ESET HOME is where you manage your ESET subscriptions and the devices they protect (ESET). Its two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional and has one method: a 6-digit code from an authenticator app, typed after your password. ESET suggests its own ESET Secure Authentication app, but any app that makes time-based codes (TOTP) works (ESET). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the ESET HOME steps come from ESET's own online help and knowledgebase, linked below, including the screenshots in its mobile app article, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on an ESET HOME account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Signed up with Google or Apple? You need a password first
The setup asks for your ESET HOME password. Accounts created with the Google or Apple button don't have one by default. Start the setup anyway, click Continue, and follow the email ESET sends to create one (ESET).
ESET's help doesn't say whether Google, Apple or passkey sign-ins also ask for the code.
Turn on 2FA on the ESET HOME website
A computer is easiest, since your iPhone can scan its screen (ESET):
- Open home.eset.com/account and sign in.
- In the Security settings section, click Set up next to Two-factor authentication.
- Enter your ESET HOME password and click Continue.
- ESET HOME shows a QR code with a manual code under it. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it.
- If scanning doesn't work, use the manual code: in Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and enter it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- In ESET HOME, click Continue. Type the 6-digit code from Novaz and click Continue again.
- ESET HOME shows ten recovery codes. Click Download codes & continue and store the file safely.
- Click Got it.
Setting it up in the ESET HOME app instead
In the app, open the main menu, tap My account, then Set up next to Two-Factor Authentication under Security settings, and enter your password (ESET). The next screen leads with Set up on this device, which hands off to an authenticator app. ESET's screenshot shows another option further down: a QR code with a code under it.
For Novaz, use that option. Copy the code into Enter key manually, or screenshot the QR code and add it with +, then Choose a photo (scanning a QR code on the same iPhone). Then type the code from Novaz and tap Continue. For the recovery codes, the app adds Copy codes & continue.
Your ten recovery codes
Each recovery code is 8 digits long and signs you in once when you don't have your authenticator app (ESET). ESET recommends keeping them on a different device from the one that makes your codes (ESET). They're your way back if the phone is lost and you have no Novaz backup, or one older than your ESET entry. See 2FA backup codes.
For a new set, click Edit next to Two-factor authentication, enter your password and a code from Novaz, and click Continue. Then click Recovery codes next to Recovery method and choose Download codes or Get new codes (ESET). ESET doesn't say whether the old codes stop working.
When ESET HOME asks for a code
Tick Remember this device for 30 days on the code screen and that device skips the code for 30 days. To cancel every remembered device at once, go to Edit and choose Forget devices (ESET). Deleting your ESET HOME account also takes a code (ESET).
If ESET HOME rejects your code
ESET's help doesn't cover rejected codes. Check your iPhone's clock first: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when it's 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Moving to a new iPhone
ESET documents no switch-phones step. Under Edit, its help lists Disable 2FA, Recovery codes and Forget devices (ESET). With those, you'd turn 2FA off while the old phone still works, then set it up again on the new one. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore it on the new iPhone instead and keep your ESET codes (How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone).
If you lose your authenticator
Sign in with one of your 8-digit recovery codes, then set up 2FA again. Without the app and the codes, ESET's only route is ESET Technical Support (ESET), through its contact page. ESET doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long it takes.
While you can still sign in, note the Customer code under your email address in My account. ESET says it identifies you to support (ESET). See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
Click Edit next to Two-factor authentication, enter your password and a code from Novaz, click Continue, then Disable 2FA and Got it (ESET). Then open the ESET HOME entry in Novaz and tap Remove account.
ESET Password Manager's two-factor setting is separate: it protects its Master Password, not ESET HOME (ESET).
