Fakturoid is a Czech online invoicing service for freelancers and small companies. Its two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional but strongly recommended, and the only second step its help describes is a 6-digit code from an authenticator app (Fakturoid).

Know this before you start: if you lose both your authenticator and your recovery codes, Fakturoid's only way back in is a message from the Czech data box (datová schránka) registered to the company ID on the account.

This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Fakturoid steps come from Fakturoid's own help pages, including their screenshots, linked below, which we read on October 22, 2026. Those pages are in Czech, so the labels below are the Czech ones, with a translation. We haven't tested them on a Fakturoid account, so a label may differ slightly, and it will differ if you've switched Fakturoid to English. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

The setting sits next to your name in Nastavení (Settings), on your user account. When 2FA is off, Fakturoid shows a red 2FA badge with a warning sign there (Fakturoid).

  1. In Fakturoid, open Nastavení and click the red 2FA badge next to your name.
  2. On the screen Zapnout dvoufázové ověření (Turn on two-step verification), click Nastavit (Set up).
  3. Fakturoid shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If Fakturoid is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, then tap + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  4. Type the 6-digit code from Novaz into the field and click Dokončit (Finish).
  5. Fakturoid shows your recovery codes on a screen titled Nakonec si uložte záchranné kódy (Finally, save your recovery codes). Use Zkopírovat (Copy) to copy them, store them, then click Kódy uloženy, zpět na uživatelský účet (Codes saved, back to your user account).

The 2FA badge turns green once it's on.

Fakturoid's screenshots show no text key on the setup screen, and its help doesn't mention one, so plan to scan the code. Its iPhone instructions use Apple's Passwords app through the Camera. With Novaz, scan from inside Novaz instead.

Keep the recovery codes away from your phone

Each recovery code works once, for when your authenticator app isn't working or your phone is gone (Fakturoid). Fakturoid suggests printing them or saving them in a password manager, on a different device from your authenticator app. Do this even with a Novaz backup: if the phone is lost and you have no backup, or it's out of date, the recovery codes are what's left. More in 2FA backup codes.

When Fakturoid asks for a code

  • Every sign-in on the web: after your email and password, Fakturoid asks for an Ověřovací kód (verification code). Type it and click Ověřit (Verify).
  • The Fakturoid mobile app asks for the code too when you sign in (Fakturoid).
  • Sensitive settings, even when you're already signed in: changing your sign-in details, setting up 2FA or API access, changing billing details, adding or editing a bank account, sending email through Gmail or your own SMTP server, and deleting the account.

Turning on 2FA doesn't change the API: requests still use your email and API token. It also raises the limit on devices signed in at once from 3 to 6 (Fakturoid).

If Fakturoid rejects your code

If Fakturoid says Špatný ověřovací kód (wrong verification code), its help points first to the phone's clock (Fakturoid). On iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off.

Then type a fresh code, since each lasts 30 seconds. After crossing time zones, Fakturoid suggests reopening the app or restarting the phone. If nothing works, use a recovery code or email podpora@fakturoid.cz. See also Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Fakturoid's way is to turn 2FA off on the old setup and turn it on again with the new phone: in Nastavení, click 2FA next to your name, confirm with Vypnout (Turn off), then repeat the setup above (Fakturoid). Do it while you can still sign in. If you restore a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file on the new iPhone, your Fakturoid codes keep working and you can skip this. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Sign in with one of your recovery codes, then set up 2FA again on your new phone.

Without them, Fakturoid's only way to confirm your identity is a message from the data box registered to the company ID (IČ) on the account (Fakturoid).

Email podpora@fakturoid.cz first to agree on the exact steps. A person handles it, so only on working days, and Fakturoid doesn't say how long it takes. The same data box check applies if you lose access to the account's email address (Fakturoid). If someone else controls the company's data box, sort that out before you need it. Turning 2FA off

In Nastavení, click 2FA next to your name and confirm with your Fakturoid password (Fakturoid). Then open Fakturoid in Novaz and tap Remove account.
