Your Fasthosts account is where you manage domains, web hosting, email and servers bought from the UK host, through the Fasthosts Control Panel. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional. Fasthosts recommends turning it on and says you can now protect your Fasthosts Account with an authenticator app (Fasthosts).

The unusual part: Fasthosts sets up 2FA for each user, not for the account as a whole. If several people sign in to one account, each user gets their own setup, and the person who runs the account can start it for the others from Manage users (Fasthosts, archived). The steps below use Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Fasthosts steps come from Fasthosts' own help pages, linked below. On October 21, 2026, Fasthosts' current help guides only loaded in a full web browser, so our automated reader couldn't open them. We read archived copies on web.archive.org instead: the 2FA article was last updated by Fasthosts on June 28, 2023, and saved in August 2023. We also read Fasthosts' blog post on 2FA, updated in April 2026, directly. We haven't tested the steps on a Fasthosts account, and labels may have changed since 2023. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA for your own user

  1. Log in to the Fasthosts Control Panel at admin.fasthosts.co.uk.
  2. Open the account menu in the top right and click My User.
  3. Click Two-factor authentication.
  4. Click Set up device.
  5. Fasthosts shows a QR code and a key. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code. If the Control Panel is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. If you'd rather type the key, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz. Fill in Service (for example, Fasthosts), Account if you like, and paste the key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  7. Type the 6-digit code from Novaz into the boxes and click Finish Set Up.

From then on, Fasthosts asks for a code from the app every time you log in as that user (Fasthosts, archived). The article doesn't say how often the codes change. Scanning the QR code is the safer choice, because it carries the code settings to your app.

Turn it on for another user

The steps are almost the same. From the account menu, click Manage users, select the user, then click Two-factor authentication and Set up device, and finish as above (Fasthosts, archived).

Whoever scans the QR code is the one who gets the codes. Fasthosts advises using a device that only you can access and that you carry with you (Fasthosts, archived). So if you set this up for a colleague, have them scan the code on their own phone while you're on that screen, rather than adding it to yours.

Recovery codes

Fasthosts has a separate help article on creating recovery codes for 2FA, linked from the end of the setup article. We couldn't read it: the current version needs a full browser, and web.archive.org has no saved copy. So we can't tell you where to find the codes or how many you get. Check that article while you're signed in, and create the codes right after setup.

Store the codes somewhere other than your phone, such as a password manager or a printed page. They're your way back in if the phone is lost and you have no Novaz backup, or one that's out of date. More in 2FA backup codes.

If Fasthosts rejects your code

The pages we read don't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Also make sure you're typing the code for the right user, if you have more than one Fasthosts login in Novaz. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Fasthosts' pages don't describe moving 2FA to a new device. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restore it on the new iPhone and the codes keep working. Without one, you'll need to set up the new phone as a fresh device. Do it while you can still log in with the old one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Start with a recovery code, if you created them. Without one, the pages we read don't describe a recovery process or what proof Fasthosts asks for, and they don't explain how to turn 2FA off. Your route is Fasthosts Support. Its contact page says the support team is reachable around the clock, and the site lists the support line as 0333 0142 700 (Fasthosts). The help site also offers live chat (Fasthosts, archived), but chat and tickets may need you to log in first.

If someone else runs your Fasthosts account and set up your user, ask them too, since they manage users from Manage users. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
