Getscreen.me 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Getscreen.me is a remote desktop service: you use its dashboard to reach your own computers through Permanent Access, or to help someone else through Quick Support. If someone gets into that dashboard, they can get into every machine it controls, so a second sign-in step is worth having. Getscreen.me can send that one-time code by email, through its Telegram bot, or take it from an authenticator app. Only one of the three can be on at a time (Getscreen.me). This guide moves you to the authenticator app, using Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Getscreen.me steps come from Getscreen.me's own documentation, including its screenshots, and its server changelog, all linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Getscreen.me account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Getscreen.me's documentation calls the feature two-step verification, while the dashboard calls it Two-factor authentication (Getscreen.me).
- Sign in to the Getscreen.me dashboard and open Account in the left menu.
- Go to the Security tab. The Two-factor authentication block lists three switches: Email, Telegram and Authenticator app.
- If email or Telegram codes are already on, you're switching channels. Getscreen.me asks for a one-time code from a channel whenever you turn it on or off, to prove it's yours, so keep that inbox or chat at hand.
- Turn on Authenticator app. A window with three stages opens: Download application, Scan the QR code and Enable. You already have Novaz, so select Next.
- In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code on screen. If the dashboard is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Finish the Enable stage with the code Novaz shows for Getscreen.me.
The documentation only shows the first stage of that window. It doesn't say whether Getscreen.me also offers a key you can type, or how often its codes change. Its example screenshot shows a 6-digit code in an authenticator app. Scanning the QR code is the safer route, because it hands your app the right settings.
According to the server changelog, turning on two-factor authentication signs you out of all your other sessions (version 1.178, June 29, 2026), and enabling or disabling it now also needs a confirmation of your email address (version 1.145, October 20, 2025) (Getscreen.me).
When Getscreen.me asks for a code
After your username and password, Getscreen.me shows a Two-factor authorization page and won't let you in until the code is right. Once you pass it, that browser or desktop app session counts as trusted and doesn't ask again while the session lasts (Getscreen.me).
The setup screen that team members see also says the codes are for connecting to computers from Permanent Access, not just for signing in.
Teams: forced 2FA and resets
If you run a team, you can make two-factor authentication mandatory for the extra technician accounts. Go to Settings, then the Security block under Team, and tick Forced two-factor authentication. A technician who hasn't set it up can't open the dashboard or connect to anything until they do. The 2FA column in the technician list shows who has it on, and the audit logs record each time it's turned on, turned off, passed or failed at sign-in (Getscreen.me).
The recovery key
Getscreen.me's article mentions a recovery key (also called a recovery token) for the authenticator app. A team owner can stop it being offered by ticking Do not offer employees to download the 2FA recovery key. The article doesn't say when the key is offered to you or how to use it (Getscreen.me). If you're offered it, download it and keep it away from your iPhone: without a Novaz backup, its keys exist only on that phone. See 2FA backup codes.
If Getscreen.me rejects your code
Getscreen.me's documentation has no advice for a rejected authenticator code. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
Getscreen.me doesn't describe a phone change. Since turning a channel off needs a code from it, the safe order is: while the old iPhone still works, turn off Authenticator app (or switch to email), then turn it back on and scan the new QR code with the new phone. With Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead and skip this. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
- You're a technician on someone's team: ask the team owner. They can reset your two-factor authentication from your technician profile, and you then set it up again (Getscreen.me).
- It's your own (primary) account: Getscreen.me's only route is its technical support. Use the form on the Technical Support page, which also lists info@getscreen.me. The documentation doesn't say what proof support asks for or how long it takes.

Turning 2FA off
Switch Authenticator app off in the same Two-factor authentication block and confirm with a code from Novaz (Getscreen.me). After that, remove Getscreen.me in Novaz by opening the account and tapping Remove account.
