If you use GoTo Meeting, GoTo Webinar or another GoTo product, you sign in with a GoTo account that you manage in My Account at myaccount.goto.com. Two-factor authentication sits there under Enhanced Security, and GoTo's help calls it multi-factor authentication (MFA). The same article on it appears in the help for each product (GoTo, GoTo).

MFA is optional. The one method GoTo describes is an authenticator app, and setup starts with a code sent to your account email. The pages we read mention no backup codes, so that email is also your way back in later. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the GoTo steps come from GoTo's own help pages, linked below. support.goto.com didn't show its articles to our automated reader, so on October 20, 2026 we read archived copies on web.archive.org. The newest copies with readable steps are from September 2025. Copies from 2026 show GoTo has since retitled the setup article and rewritten its summary, so a label may differ. We haven't tested the steps on a GoTo account. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Three things called a "verification code"

GoTo uses that name for the code it emails you during setup, for the text key next to the QR code, and for the 6-digit code from your app that goes in the Verification code box at sign-in (GoTo). When a screen asks for one, check which it means.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

From GoTo's setup article (GoTo):

  1. Sign in to My Account and choose Sign in & security in the left menu.
  2. Under Enhanced Security, select Enable enhanced security.
  3. Select Continue so GoTo emails you a code. Paste it into the enrollment screen and select Continue, then Continue again on the confirmation screen.
  4. Select Continue once you have an authenticator app. The next screen, Connect to your mobile device, shows a QR code.
  5. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. Can't scan? GoTo prints a key next to the QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and paste it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  7. Select Continue, type the 6-digit code from Novaz, and select Continue.

Back on Sign in & security, GoTo's screenshot shows Enabled for enhanced security and Paired to device under Multi-factor authentication.

GoTo doesn't say how often its codes change, so scan the QR code if you can: it passes the code settings to your app.

When GoTo asks for the code

After your email (Next) and password (Sign in), you type the app code and select Continue (GoTo). GoTo only asks once a sign-in session has ended. It can also ask mid-session when you open a page with sensitive account details, when it notices unusual activity, or when a sign-in comes from an unknown or suspicious place (GoTo). GoTo's 2026 summary of the setup article adds that recovering your password needs the code too (GoTo).

No backup codes

The GoTo pages we read don't mention backup or recovery codes. Pairing a new phone takes a code GoTo emails to your account address (GoTo). Before you turn MFA on, make sure you can get into that mailbox and that it's well protected.

Novaz keys stay on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, so the email route below is your fallback if you have neither.

If GoTo rejects your code

GoTo's pages don't cover rejected codes. Check that you typed the code from Novaz, not one from an email. Then check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

New phone or lost phone

Both work the same way: you enroll the new phone, which replaces the old pairing. After that, only the newest phone's codes work (GoTo).

  1. In My Account, open Sign in & security and select Reset for a new device under Enhanced Security.
  2. Sign in again with your email and password.
  3. When asked for an app code, select Set up a new mobile device, then Continue.
  4. Paste the code GoTo emails you, select Continue, and pair the new phone as in the setup steps.

If the phone is gone, step 3 is the one that matters: GoTo's sign-in screenshot shows Set up a new mobile device under the Verification code box. If you've lost your email access as well, the pages we read describe no other way in.

Once the new phone works, open the old GoTo entry in Novaz and tap Remove account. If you restored your accounts from a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, the GoTo entry keeps working and you don't need to pair again.
