Metorik is the reporting, segmenting and email tool that many WooCommerce and Shopify store owners connect to their shops, and your Metorik user account can reach every store you're on the team of. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional. Metorik's help says it is "highly encouraged", and store admins can see which team members have turned it on (Metorik). The only method is a code from an authenticator app.

The part to get right is what happens after setup: instead of a list of backup codes, Metorik shows a single emergency reset token, and only once. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Metorik steps come from Metorik's own help pages, including the screenshots in its 2FA article, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Metorik account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Metorik describes these steps (Metorik):

  1. Sign in to Metorik and open your personal settings at app.metorik.com/settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom, to the section 2 Factor Authentication.
  3. Click Enable. A dialog called Verify Two-Factor Authentication opens with a QR code.
  4. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code. If you have Metorik open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  5. Type the 6-digit code from Novaz in the Code field and click Verify. If the code is right, the dialog closes.
  6. Copy the emergency reset token that appears in the 2FA section (more below).

The help article and its screenshot show only a QR code. They don't mention a text key you could type by hand instead, so plan on scanning. Metorik's settings panel names Google Authenticator and Authy as examples, and the article adds Microsoft Authenticator, but nothing ties you to those apps.

Save the emergency reset token

Right after setup, the 2FA section shows your emergency reset token. Metorik's screenshot says it is displayed only once (Metorik). Write it down or store it in a password manager before you leave the page. If you lose your phone or can't get a code, entering this token turns 2FA off on your account so you can get back in.

It's one token, not a set of codes, and the help doesn't say whether it still works after you've used it once. Treat it as single-use: if you ever use it, set up 2FA again and save the new token you're shown.

This matters with Novaz too: its keys stay on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, so without one the token is your only way back in. Read more in 2FA backup codes.

When Metorik asks for a code

You're asked for the code each time you log in after 2FA is on. That includes signing in with your WordPress.com account: Metorik still asks for its own 2FA code even then (Metorik). The help doesn't mention a way to remember a trusted browser.

If you think someone else has got into your Metorik account, Metorik's advice is to change your password, which signs out your other devices, and then add 2FA (Metorik).

If Metorik rejects your code

Metorik's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Metorik doesn't describe moving 2FA to a new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore the account on the new iPhone and skip this. What the help does document is that you can turn 2FA off and on again from the same settings section. So while you still have the old phone, sign in, click Disable, then Enable again and scan the new QR code with the new phone. You'll get a new reset token to save. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Use your emergency reset token. Metorik's help says it disables 2FA on your account, though it doesn't show where on the sign-in screen you enter it (Metorik).

Without the token, your only route is Metorik support. Its contact page lists the chat beacon in the app and the email address help@metorik.com (Metorik). It doesn't describe a 2FA reset process, what proof of ownership it asks for, or how long it takes. Write from the email address on your Metorik account. Turning 2FA off

Go back to your settings, scroll to the 2FA section and click Disable. Metorik says this removes 2FA from your account straight away (Metorik). Then open the Metorik account in Novaz and tap Remove account.
