Your Trend Micro home products, such as Maximum Security, are managed from one online account that used to be called the Trend Micro Account. Since Trend Micro renamed its consumer business TrendLife in April 2026, it's the TrendLife account, at account.trendlife.com. Your sign-in details didn't change, and the Trend Micro name may still appear in apps, billing and support for a while (TrendLife).

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional here. The second code can come from an authenticator app, a text message or an email, and Trend Micro suggests turning on at least two of them (TrendLife). This guide sets up the app method with Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the TrendLife steps come from Trend Micro's own help center, now at helpcenter.trendlife.com and linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a TrendLife account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Trend Micro's newest article on this, updated in September 2026, gives these steps (TrendLife):

  1. Go to account.trendlife.com, choose Sign In, enter your email address and password, and select Next.
  2. On a computer, click your name in the top-right corner and choose My Profile. On a phone, tap the menu icon, then My Profile.
  3. Open the Two-factor Authentication section.
  4. Under Authentication App, click Set Up.
  5. When asked whether you already have an app, click Yes, then Next. (Not Yet shows options for downloading other apps.)
  6. A QR code appears. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and aim the camera at it. On the same iPhone, use a screenshot and Choose a photo (details). Back on the TrendLife page, click Next.
  7. Type the code from Novaz as the Confirmation Code and click Next.

An earlier article, from June 2026, says you can type the code manually if scanning fails, but doesn't name that option, the key's length, or the code settings (TrendLife). If you go that way, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz and paste the key as the Setup key. Novaz needs at least 16 characters for a typed key and always makes 6-digit, 30-second codes, so scanning is the safer choice when settings aren't published. See What is a 2FA setup key?

The June article's labels differ a little: a Profile tab, My Profile, a Two-factor Authentication tab, and a final Done.

No backup codes, so add a second method

None of the Trend Micro help pages we read mention backup or recovery codes. What Trend Micro recommends instead is a second method, in case one fails. Next to Text Message (SMS) or Email Address, select Set Up, enter your number or address, and type the confirmation code you receive. To pick the method used first, select Manage next to it, then Set as Default (TrendLife).

That fallback matters more with Novaz if you haven't turned on iCloud backup or exported a backup file, since its keys then exist only on that iPhone.

In the United Arab Emirates, choose email: Trend Micro says texts may not arrive there while it registers to send SMS under a new UAE rule (TrendLife).

When TrendLife asks for a code

With 2FA on, every sign-in needs a code on top of your password (TrendLife), from whichever method you chose (TrendLife). The help center doesn't mention trusting a device to skip it.

If TrendLife rejects your code

Trend Micro covers email and text codes that don't arrive (for email, check spam and add Trend Micro as a safe sender), but not authenticator codes that get refused (TrendLife). The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Changing phones

You can edit a method through Manage, then Change (TrendLife), but Trend Micro doesn't describe moving the app to a new phone. Do it while the old iPhone still makes codes. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead; without one, TrendLife has to be added fresh. See moving to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

If you set up text or email too, that's your way in, though Trend Micro's help doesn't show how to switch methods at sign-in. Once you're in, set up the app again on your new phone.

With no other method, Trend Micro's recovery article sends you to Chat with Trend Micro Support, where a support representative resets your two-factor authentication (TrendLife). It doesn't say what proof you'll need or how long it takes. For the phone side, read what to do if you lose your phone.

Turning 2FA off

On the Two-Factor Authentication tab, select Turn Off at the top, enter your password and select Turn Off again. Trend Micro emails you to confirm (TrendLife). Then open TrendLife in Novaz and tap Remove account.
