Wyze 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5

Your Wyze account is your sign-in for the Wyze app and the cameras, locks and other devices in it. New accounts get two-factor authentication (2FA) by email automatically, and you can switch to text messages (US and Canadian numbers only) or an authenticator app (Wyze, Wyze). Wyze's version has two quirks: there's no QR code, only a key to copy, and Wyze's staff can't reset your 2FA, so your own backups are all you have. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Wyze steps come from Wyze's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Wyze account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Signing in with Google, Apple, Facebook or Amazon?
Then Wyze's 2FA doesn't apply, and Two-Factor Authentication won't appear on your My Account screen. Use 2FA on that other account instead (Wyze). This guide covers accounts with a Wyze email and password.
Before you start
- Use the Wyze app. 2FA can't be set up on wyze.com (Wyze).
- Update the app. Older versions can't sign in while 2FA is on (Wyze).
- Relink integrations. Alexa, Google Home or IFTTT need setting up again (Wyze).
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Wyze's help describes these steps (Wyze):
- In the Wyze app, tap the Account tab, then Account again.
- Tap Two-Factor Authentication, then Authenticator App. An older Wyze page calls it Verification by Authenticator App, so your label may differ (Wyze).
- The Wyze app shows a key, which its help calls a code. There's no QR code.
- Copy the key. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually. Type Wyze as the Service, add your Wyze email as the Account if you like, and paste the key into Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Back in the Wyze app, enter the current code from Novaz. To copy it, touch and hold the Wyze account in Novaz, then tap Copy code.
- Wyze then gives you a backup code. Save it somewhere other than your phone.
Wyze doesn't say how long its key is or how its codes are set up. Novaz makes 6-digit codes every 30 seconds from a typed key, and the key must be at least 16 characters. With no QR code to scan instead, if Novaz rejects the key, it can't hold your Wyze account.
Keep the backup code safe
Wyze shows this code, which its help also calls the Recovery Code, only once. If you lose it while you're still signed in, turn 2FA off and back on to get a new one (Wyze).
If that phone is gone and you have no Novaz iCloud backup or backup file to restore from, this code is your way back in. Wyze's FAQ also urges more than one backup, and warns that you can't add one after losing your main method (Wyze). More in 2FA backup codes.
When Wyze asks for a code
Only when you sign in, for example after tapping Log Out on the Account tab, not each time you open the app (Wyze, Wyze). After entering a code, you can choose Trust This Device to skip codes on that phone or tablet for 90 days (an older wyze.com screenshot says 30). Reinstalling the app ends the trust, and you can review trusted devices in the app under Account > Account > Trusted Devices (Wyze).
If Wyze rejects your code
Wyze's troubleshooting covers only text-message codes, which last 30 minutes. It notes that authenticator codes usually last about 30 seconds (Wyze), so enter a fresh one quickly. If every code fails, check the iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
Wyze doesn't cover moving an authenticator. Its way to change 2FA is to turn it off and set it up again in the app (Wyze). Do that before you give up the old iPhone: sign in on the new phone with a code from the old one, then turn 2FA off and on with Novaz on the new phone, which also gives you a new backup code. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead, and Wyze keeps accepting the codes. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
2FA can be changed only inside the Wyze app, and Wyze says "Wyze and its employees are unable to make modifications" to it (Wyze). Support can't switch it off for you. What you can try:
- Your backup code from setup.
- Email. Wyze's FAQ says the email option can get you back in after you replace a phone (Wyze). A screenshot of the wyze.com code screen shows a Try another way link, which the help doesn't explain (Wyze).
- A Wyze app that's still signed in on another phone or tablet. That's where 2FA settings live, so try turning it off and setting it up again there.
If none of these works, Wyze's FAQ says you lose the account and its devices. It describes no other recovery route. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
In the Wyze app, go to Account > Account > Two-Factor Authentication, tap Disable 2FA (Not Recommended), then Yes, Disable (Wyze). Then open Wyze in Novaz and tap Remove account.
