Beget 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5

Beget is a Russian hosting and cloud provider, and your Beget account is the control panel for your web hosting, cloud servers and domains. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional. Beget offers three ways to get the second code: email, SMS, or an authenticator app, which Beget calls TOTP. Email and the app are free; SMS codes cost 50 rubles a month (Beget). This guide sets up the app method with Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Beget steps come from Beget's own knowledge base and news posts, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. Some of those pages exist only in Russian, so the English labels come from the screenshots in Beget's English manual. We haven't tested them on a Beget account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Steps from Beget's account settings manual and its screenshots (Beget):
- Sign in to the Beget control panel, choose Settings in the left menu, then the Security tab. The manual calls this page Security and Login. The direct address is cp.beget.com/settings/security (Beget).
- On the Authentication sub-tab, find the Two-factor authentication box. Open the list that reads Disabled, pick TOTP (One Time Password), and choose Apply.
- A Connection TOTP window opens. Its Which applications are suitable? list names Yandex Key, Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator, but Beget's announcement gives those only as examples of TOTP apps (Beget). Under 1. Scan the QR code, open Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If you're on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Can't scan? The text key is printed under the QR code in groups of four characters (Beget). In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and fill in Beget as the Service, your Beget login as the Account, and the key as the Setup key. More in What is a 2FA setup key?
- Under 2. Enter the code from the authenticator app, type the 6-digit code Novaz shows and choose Continue.
- Enter your account password when Beget asks for it.
- The window changes to Setup complete with your One-time recovery codes. Save them with Download TXT file or Copy keys to clipboard, then choose I saved everything.
Beget has had a redesigned control panel in public beta since January 2026 (Beget), so menu names may vary a little between versions.
Your recovery codes
The recovery codes are for the day you can't open your authenticator app; Beget's example shows ten of them. Keep the file off your iPhone, in a password manager or on paper. If the phone is gone and you have no Novaz backup, these codes are your way back in. Beget warns that a fresh set is made each time TOTP is turned on, so if you ever set it up again, keep the newest file (Beget). See 2FA backup codes.
Signing in afterwards
After your password, every control panel sign-in shows an Enter authentication code screen. Type the Confirmation code from Novaz and choose Enter (Beget). Beget's pages don't mention a way to remember a trusted device.
The same page covers passkeys, a separate way to sign in without a password. Beget doesn't say whether a passkey sign-in also asks for the TOTP code.
The password also opens FTP, SSH and the API
Your control panel password also signs in to your main FTP and SSH accounts, and to the Beget API by default. Beget describes the 2FA code only as a step for the control panel, so a strong password still matters. On the Beget API sub-tab, Set a new password for the API gives the API its own password, and you can untick methods you don't use (Beget).
If Beget rejects your code
Beget doesn't publish advice for codes that don't work. Type the code before it changes in Novaz, and check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes in Authenticator code not working?
If you lose your authenticator
On the code screen, choose Use a one-time verification code or restore access and enter one of your recovery codes (Beget). Beget's pages don't explain the "restore access" part of that link, what proof it asks for, or how long it takes. Without your recovery codes, contact Beget's technical support at support@beget.com, the address on its sign-in screen. See also Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
New phone, or turning it off
Beget doesn't describe moving the authenticator to a new phone or turning 2FA off. Its screenshot shows Disabled, meaning password only, as a choice in the same Two-factor authentication list, so that looks like the switch. We'd use it while the old phone still works, then pick TOTP (One Time Password) again and scan the new QR code with the new iPhone. A Novaz iCloud backup or backup file skips all that, since you restore your accounts on the new iPhone; see How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
