Coins.ph is the Philippine wallet and crypto exchange people use to send money, pay bills and trade. It sends verification codes to your mobile number and email, and you can add an authenticator app as a third source. Coins.ph calls this two-factor authentication (2FA) and doesn't require it, but recommends it (Coins.ph).

Two things to know before you start. Once you confirm the setup, withdrawals and cash outs are locked for 24 hours. And Coins.ph gives you no backup codes: the setup key is the only thing that lets you rebuild the authenticator yourself (Coins.ph).

This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Coins.ph steps come from Coins.ph's own help center, including the screenshots in its articles, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Coins.ph account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA in the Coins app

Coins.ph's help describes these steps (Coins.ph):

  1. In the Coins app, tap the user icon at the top left, then Settings.
  2. Under Account & Security, tap Enable Authenticator App.
  3. A Security notice warns about the 24-hour lock. Tap Continue. If you need to cash out today, do that first.
  4. The Enable Authenticator App screen shows a setup key (Coins.ph's screenshots show no QR code here). Copy it.
  5. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually. Type "Coins.ph" as the Service and paste the key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  6. Back in the Coins app, type the current code from Novaz in the Authenticator App field and tap Enable 2FA.

Coins.ph says the codes are 6 digits and change every 30 seconds, which is what Novaz uses for a key you type in.

Or on the website

On coins.ph, select the user icon, then Account Settings (shown as Settings in the screenshot). Under Security, select Enable next to Authenticator App and accept the same notice, whose button may read Confirm (Coins.ph).

The web version shows a QR code and the key under it. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. Then type the 6-digit code in Auth code and select Next.

Save the setup key

The website's setup screen tells you to keep the 16-digit key private, because it can restore your authenticator if you lose your phone. Coins.ph's help mentions no backup codes, so that key is your backup. Novaz keeps keys only on the iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, so store the key in a password manager or on paper too. With it, Enter key manually on a new phone gives the same codes.

When Coins.ph asks for codes

Coins.ph runs a security check that can ask for several codes at once: one from each method you have turned on (Coins.ph). That happens when you:

  • sign in or reset your password,
  • change your email address or mobile number, or turn 2FA on or off,
  • cash in or out, transfer between wallets, buy load or pay bills.

You choose which methods send codes under Settings > Security > Authentication Methods. Coins.ph won't let you switch off the last one, so at least one of mobile, email or the authenticator app stays on (Coins.ph).

A new device also has to be approved through an emailed link, opened on that device (Coins.ph).

If Coins.ph rejects your code

During setup, the error reads Verification not valid!. Coins.ph's help blames a phone clock that's out of sync (Coins.ph). On iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off.

If that doesn't help, Coins.ph suggests deleting the entry and adding it again with the key. In Novaz, open the account, tap Remove account, then add it again. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Coins.ph's transfer article only points to Google Authenticator's and Authy's own transfer guides (Coins.ph). With iCloud backup or a backup file, Novaz restores your accounts on the new iPhone. Without one, enter the saved setup key there. If you didn't save it, turn the authenticator off on the old phone and set it up again on the new one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Without the authenticator or the saved key, you need Coins.ph Support to reset 2FA for you. That covers a lost or reset phone and a deleted entry (Coins.ph). Support runs extra identity checks first, and what it asks for depends on your verification level. Coins.ph doesn't say how long a reset takes.

You can reach Support through the chat in the app (user icon, then Help Center, then Start Chat), the chat widget on the website, or the support form (Coins.ph). More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

Under Security, choose Disable Authenticator App (on the website, Disable next to Authenticator App). Coins.ph may ask for facial recognition or several codes before it agrees (Coins.ph).
