eukhost 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app for the Client Portal

eukhost is a UK web hosting company, and its Client Portal at portal.eukhost.com is where you manage your hosting services, domains and billing. Two-factor authentication (2FA) for the portal is optional, but eukhost recommends turning it on to keep other people out. It works with any app that supports time-based codes (TOTP), not only the Google and Microsoft apps eukhost names (eukhost). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app follows the same steps.
One thing to know before you start: the portal and cPanel are separate logins. Turning on 2FA in the portal doesn't protect your cPanel account, which has its own setting (more below).
How we checked this guide: the eukhost steps come from eukhost's own knowledge base, linked below. Its website turned away our automated reader with a browser check, so on October 22, 2026 we read the articles as archived copies on web.archive.org. The Client Portal article was saved on August 12, 2025, and eukhost last updated it in December 2024, so labels may have changed since. We haven't tested the steps on a eukhost account. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
eukhost's knowledge base describes these steps (eukhost):
- Sign in to the eukhost Client Portal.
- Go to Your profile > 2FA/Security Settings.
- Click Click Here to Enable, then Get Started.
- The portal shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the portal is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- If you can't scan it, eukhost also shows a code you can type into the app instead. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and type it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Type the 6-digit code from Novaz and click Submit.
- Save the backup codes the portal shows next.
The article doesn't say how often the portal's codes change. Scanning the QR code is the safer choice, since the QR code passes the code settings to your app.
Save the backup codes
The last screen of the setup shows backup codes. eukhost only tells you to keep them somewhere secure. Its article doesn't say how many there are, whether each works once, or whether you can make new ones later.
Treat them as a spare key. Unless you back up Novaz with iCloud backup or Export to file…, its keys exist only on your iPhone, so if that phone is lost the backup codes are what's left. Store them in a password manager or on paper, away from the phone. More in 2FA backup codes.
Signing in afterwards
After setup, the Client Portal asks for a code from your authenticator app the next time you sign in (eukhost). The article doesn't mention a way to trust a device or skip the code.
If eukhost rejects your code
eukhost's knowledge base has no advice on rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Your cPanel account has its own 2FA
If your hosting plan includes cPanel, you set up 2FA there separately: in cPanel, under Security, click Two-Factor Authentication, then Set Up Two-Factor Authentication, and finish with Configure Two-Factor Authentication (eukhost). That article says cPanel's codes change every 60 seconds, so scan the QR code there rather than typing the key. In Novaz it shows up as a second entry, apart from the portal.
Changing phones or losing your authenticator
The Client Portal article doesn't cover a new phone, a lost phone or turning 2FA off. Start with a backup code if you're locked out. Without one, contact eukhost support. For cPanel, eukhost says its support team can reset 2FA once you've passed its security checks, and that cPanel's Reconfigure two-factor authentication button lets you set it up again on a new device (eukhost). eukhost doesn't say what those checks involve or how long a reset takes.
When you switch phones, restore your Novaz iCloud backup or backup file on the new iPhone and both entries keep working. Without a backup, set each account up again on the new one before you wipe the old one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone and Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
