ImmoScout24 (immobilienscout24.de) is the German property portal where you search for flats and houses, contact landlords and agents, and place listings. Agents and other business customers run their listings from the ScoutManager, which signs in with the same account. ImmoScout24 calls its two-factor authentication (2FA) "2-Schritt-Authentifizierung" or "2-Faktor-Authentifizierung". It works with an authenticator app, and business accounts can choose text messages instead (ImmoScout24). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. ImmoScout24's pages name Google Authenticator, but the codes are standard, so any authenticator app works the same way.

Is it required? For most people, no. ImmoScout24's page for business customers says nothing happens if you leave it off, but that it will become mandatory in the near future, without giving a date. In a ScoutManager team, once the main account turns it on, every sub-account has to turn it on too (ImmoScout24).

How we checked this guide: the ImmoScout24 steps come from ImmoScout24's own security pages, linked below, which are in German and which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on an ImmoScout24 account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Use the website, not the ImmoScout24 app

ImmoScout24 says you can't set up two-step sign-in in its own app at the moment. You have to do it on the website (ImmoScout24). A computer is easiest: the QR code stays on the big screen while you scan it with your iPhone. The labels below are the German ones from ImmoScout24's help, with a translation in parentheses.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

For a private account, ImmoScout24 describes these steps (ImmoScout24):

  1. Sign in to your ImmoScout24 account on the website.
  2. Go to Konto verwalten (manage account), choose Meine Zugangsdaten (my login details), and enter your password again.
  3. On the page that opens, find 2 Schritt Authentifizierung (2-step authentication).
  4. Click Über App (via app) and follow the instructions.
  5. ImmoScout24 shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the website is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. Novaz shows a 6-digit code at once. Type it on the ImmoScout24 page. When the code is accepted, setup is done (ImmoScout24).

If you have a business account, the same setting is in the ScoutManager under Meine Zugangsdaten (ImmoScout24).

ImmoScout24's pages only mention the QR code. They don't say whether the setup screen also offers a key you can type. If it does, tap + in Novaz, then Enter key manually, and type it as the Setup key (What is a 2FA setup key?). ImmoScout24's codes are 6 digits and change every 30 seconds, which matches what Novaz uses for a typed key.

When ImmoScout24 asks for a code

Not at every sign-in. ImmoScout24 asks for a code when you sign in from a device or browser it doesn't know. Once you've entered a correct code there, it treats that device as safe and doesn't ask again the next time (ImmoScout24). So you may not need Novaz for months, then need it on a new laptop or browser.

The business page adds that if someone else uses your login details, you're alerted right away, can refuse the access, and can then report it to ImmoScout24. It doesn't say what the alert looks like.

ScoutManager teams

Instead of sharing one ScoutManager login, the main account holder creates sub-accounts in team management. Each team member gets their own username, password and 2FA, which they turn on under Meine Zugangsdaten (ImmoScout24). So each person scans their own QR code into their own app. The same page says an account can no longer hold several phone numbers for 2FA: you pick one main number.

If ImmoScout24 rejects your code

ImmoScout24's pages don't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when your clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

No documented backup or recovery

ImmoScout24's help doesn't mention backup or recovery codes, and doesn't explain how to move the authenticator to a new phone, what to do if you lose it, or how to turn 2FA off. With Novaz, an iCloud backup or a backup file lets you restore your accounts on a new iPhone; without one, the keys exist only on your current iPhone. So:

  • Changing phones: restore your Novaz backup on the new iPhone. Without one, keep the old iPhone until ImmoScout24 works on the new one, or support has told you how to reset it. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
  • Lost phone: restore your Novaz backup if you have one. If not, a browser where you've already confirmed a code shouldn't ask for one again, so if you still have one, use it while you sort things out. Otherwise, contact ImmoScout24 through Kontakt & Hilfe. For business customers, the team-management page lists a phone line (030 24301 1800, weekdays 8:00 to 18:00) and sicherheit@scout24.com for questions (ImmoScout24). The pages don't say what proof support asks for or how long a reset takes.
