Kick 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app
By the Novaz team · Updated October 29, 2026
Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Kick asks for two-factor authentication (2FA) before you can do some things on your account. You need it to change your username and to become a verified streamer (Kick, Kick). This guide sets it up with an authenticator app on iPhone. We use Authenticator App - Novaz in the steps, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Kick steps come from Kick's own help pages, linked below, which we read on October 11, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Kick account, so a label on Kick's site may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Before you start
- Install an authenticator app on your iPhone.
- If you can, sign in to Kick in a web browser on a computer, so you can scan the QR code with your iPhone.
- Make sure you can still get into the email address on your Kick account. Kick uses it to check it's you if you ever lose your codes.
Turn on 2FA on Kick
Kick's help describes these steps (Kick):
- Go to your security settings at kick.com/settings/security.
- Click Enable 2FA. Kick shows a QR code, with the option to "enter the code" instead.
- Add the QR code to your authenticator app:
- In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code.
- If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Click Continue Setup, type the 6-digit code from your app, and click Continue Setup again.
- Save your backup codes. Kick gives you a set of one-time backup codes when you set up 2FA, and recommends keeping them in a password manager, not in an email or a plain text file (Kick). See 2FA backup codes.
How often Kick codes change
Kick's help says "Codes are generated every 60 seconds" (Kick). Most services change codes every 30 seconds. After you add Kick to Novaz, tap the account and look under Details at Interval to see what your QR code set.
Either way, add Kick by scanning the QR code rather than typing the key. The QR code tells your app the interval. A key typed by hand gets the usual 30 seconds in most apps, Novaz included, and its codes won't match if Kick uses 60. More in Authenticator code not working?.
Signing in with 2FA
From then on, Kick asks for a code from your authenticator app when you sign in, after your password. If you don't have your phone, you can type one of your backup codes instead. Each backup code works only once (Kick).
If Kick rejects your code
Kick says a phone clock that's out of sync is the most common cause (Kick). On iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when your clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes, such as an old entry from an earlier setup, are covered in Authenticator code not working?.
Changing phones
Kick's help says to turn off 2FA before you move to a new phone, while you can still get a code, then turn it on again with the new one (Kick). If you back up Novaz with iCloud backup or a backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead; without a backup, follow Kick's advice. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
- Still signed in to Kick somewhere? Use that device to remove 2FA, then set it up again.
- Have backup codes? Use one to sign in, then set up 2FA again on your new phone.
- Neither? Contact Kick. Its help pages give three different addresses: support@kick.com, security@kick.com and recovery@kick.com. Write from the email address on your Kick account. The most recent, the account recovery article (updated August 2026), uses recovery@kick.com. Kick checks your identity with details such as your account email and past payments, and says most cases take a few business days.

Turning 2FA off
On kick.com/settings/security, click Remove 2FA, then Yes, I'm Sure (Kick). Remember that Kick asks for 2FA to change your username and to get verified as a streamer. If you turn it off, also remove the Kick account from your authenticator app (in Novaz: open the account and tap Remove account).
