Moqups is a browser app for wireframes, mockups, diagrams and whiteboards, and your Moqups account holds every project you and your team have made there. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional, and it's personal: each team member has to turn it on for their own account, because Moqups has no way to require it for a whole team (Moqups). The only second step Moqups describes is a code from an authenticator app. Its help page names a few free ones, but any authenticator app works. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone.

How we checked this guide: the Moqups steps come from Moqups's own help center and update notes, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. Moqups's help is short on this topic, so where it says nothing, we say so. We haven't tested the steps on a Moqups account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Before you start: how you sign in matters

Moqups lets you sign in with an email and password, with a Google, Microsoft, Apple or Slack account, or with your company's SAML single sign-on (Moqups). The 2FA help says that when you sign in with single sign-on, Moqups doesn't use two-factor authentication for that session (Moqups). The extra check then comes from the account you signed in with. Moqups's security page counts third-party app sign-in among its single sign-on options (Moqups), so a Google, Microsoft, Apple or Slack sign-in may skip the Moqups code too. The help doesn't say so outright. The code is certain to apply when you sign in with your Moqups email and password.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

You need your Moqups password for these steps. Moqups's help describes this route (Moqups):

  1. In Moqups, open the Account Menu at the bottom left of the Left Sidebar.
  2. Choose Account Settings.
  3. In the Two Factor Authentication section, click Enable 2FA.
  4. Type your password in the pop-up and click Continue.
  5. The Configure Two-Factor Authentication window opens with three short steps. The second one is a QR code.
  6. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code on your computer screen. If Moqups is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, then tap + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  7. Type the 6-digit code Novaz shows for Moqups into the window.
  8. Click Activate.

The help page only mentions scanning the QR code. It doesn't say whether the window also offers a key you can type by hand. If you do see one, you can add it in Novaz with +, then Enter key manually, and paste it into Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?

When Moqups asks for a code

Once 2FA is on, Moqups asks for a code from your app at each new login. The help doesn't describe a way to skip it on trusted computers (Moqups). Open Novaz, find Moqups, and type the current code.

No backup codes documented

Moqups's help doesn't mention backup or recovery codes, a second method such as text messages, or a way to recover the account if you lose your authenticator. Novaz's keys stay on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or use Export to file… in Settings › Backup, so set one of those up before you turn 2FA on. Keep the email address on your Moqups account correct and working, since Moqups sends password resets there (Moqups). You can also add Moqups to a second authenticator app or device during setup, while the QR code is still on screen.

If Moqups rejects your code

Moqups doesn't give advice for rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Moqups doesn't describe how to move 2FA to a new phone, and its help has no steps for turning 2FA off. With Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone and Moqups keeps accepting the codes. Without one, keep the old phone until Moqups works on the new one. If Account Settings gives you a way to reconfigure 2FA, use it while you can still sign in. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Moqups's help has no recovery steps for this. Your route is Moqups support, through the form on the Contact Support page. The form asks you to pick a topic, such as Technical Issues or Other. Moqups doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long a reset takes. Write from the email address on your account and say how you normally sign in. A note for account admins

Moqups's December 2023 update notes list a fix titled "Disable 2FA when an account is transferred to a new Admin" (Moqups). Moqups doesn't explain it further. If you take over a Moqups account from a previous admin, check Account Settings afterwards and turn 2FA on for yourself if it's off.

Since 2FA can't be required for a team, admins who want a team-wide rule can turn on Enforce SSO Authentication on the Security tab instead. Moqups warns that this turns off password-only login for every team member (Moqups).
