Netim 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Netim is a domain name registrar, and your Netim Direct account is where your domains, hosting, contacts and payment details live. Netim's help says the account holds sensitive data such as bank details, and it rates your protection with a security gauge based on which features you've turned on (Netim). Two-factor authentication (2FA) with an authenticator app is one of them. It's optional. Netim also offers passkeys, IP restriction, login alerts and an emergency email.
This guide sets up 2FA with Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Netim steps come from Netim's own help page, linked below. Netim's support site blocks automated readers, so we read an archived copy saved on web.archive.org on April 15, 2026. The page itself shows a last update of December 9, 2025. We read it on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested the steps on a Netim account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Where the setting is
Netim's page uses two names for the same screen, the one you pick from the menu under your name: Login and Security in most sections, Connection and Security in the 2FA steps. Expect either label.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
These steps follow Netim's help (Netim):
- Log in to your Netim Direct account, on a computer if you can.
- Click your name in the upper right corner.
- Select Connection and Security (or Login and Security).
- On the two-factor authentication line, click Enable.
- Netim shows a QR code with a key just above it. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If the QR code is on your iPhone, take a screenshot, then tap + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- If you'd rather type the key, click it: Netim copies it to the clipboard. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, type Netim as the Service and paste or type the key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Netim then asks for the 6-digit code from your app to check the setup. Type the current code from Novaz.
- Netim shows your backup codes. Save or print them now.
Netim's page doesn't say how often its codes change. Scanning the QR code is the safer route, since the code carries those settings to the app.
Save the backup codes on the spot
Netim makes backup codes the last step of setup, and its help warns that you can't view them again afterwards. Each one is 6 digits long and works once (Netim). The page doesn't say how to get a new set.
Novaz's keys stay on your iPhone unless you've turned on iCloud backup or exported a backup file. Without one, these codes are your way back in if that phone breaks or goes missing. Keep them in a password manager or on paper, away from the phone. More in 2FA backup codes.
When Netim asks for a code
After setup, Netim asks for a code from your app, on top of your password, when you log in. Turning 2FA off also asks for a code. The help page doesn't mention trusted devices or skipping the code on a known computer.
Add a second device, or change phones
Unusually, Netim documents a way to put the same 2FA on more than one device. On the security page, click the + icon and scan the QR code that appears with the other device (Netim).
That's also the easiest way to move to a new iPhone. While the old phone still works, add the new one this way, and check that Netim accepts its codes before you wipe the old phone. If you use Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you can also just restore your accounts on the new iPhone. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If Netim rejects your code
Netim's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is a phone clock that has drifted. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. To fix it, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
If you lose your authenticator
On the login screen, type one of your backup codes where the app's code would go. Netim's help says this is what they're for, whether you've lost access for a while or for good (Netim). Once you're in, add your new phone with the + icon described above. Netim's page doesn't say how to remove a lost device from the list.
If you have no backup codes left, Netim's help doesn't describe a recovery process, what proof it asks for, or how long it takes. Your remaining route is to contact Netim through the contact page its support site links to. The emergency email on the same help page only covers password resets, not 2FA. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
Go back to Connection and Security, click Disable, and enter the 6-digit code from your app (Netim). Then remove the Netim entry in Novaz: open it and tap Remove account.
