Pair Domains is the domain registrar run by Pair Networks. Your account there is where you manage your domain names and any SSL certificates you bought from it, so it's worth protecting well. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional. When it's on, you sign in with your account name and password, then type a single-use code from an authenticator app. Pair Domains says it can't send these codes by email or by voice call, and its help page doesn't offer text messages either, so the app is the method (Pair Domains).

The one thing to know before you start: Pair Domains only shows your setup details once. If they're gone later, it can't send you a new code or key. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Pair Domains steps come from Pair Domains' own support articles, linked below, which we read on October 22, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Pair Domains account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Pair Domains' support article, last updated February 4, 2026, gives these steps (Pair Domains):

  1. Log in to the Domain Name Management System at pairdomains.com.
  2. Open the drop-down navigation menu and choose Account Settings.
  3. Click 2FA settings, then Turn on 2FA.
  4. Pair Domains shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  5. Save the recovery information Pair Domains shows you (more on this below).
  6. Type the code from Novaz and select Complete 2FA Setup.

The article doesn't say whether the setup screen also shows a text key next to the QR code, or how many digits the codes have and how often they change. Scanning the QR code is the safe choice, because it carries those settings to your app. If you do get a key to type, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz and paste it as the Setup key. Typed keys always give 6-digit codes that change every 30 seconds. See What is a 2FA setup key?

Save the recovery information

This step matters more here than at most services. Pair Domains says it can't give you a code or a key after setup: the only time you get them is while you set 2FA up (Pair Domains). Its article talks about using "your QR code or recovery key" to set up a new phone, but it doesn't describe one-time backup codes.

So keep a copy of whatever the setup screen gives you, such as a screenshot of the QR code or the key, somewhere safe and away from your phone, like a password manager. Anyone with that QR code or key can make your codes, so treat it like a password.

Keep that saved copy even if you back up Novaz. Without iCloud backup or a backup file, Novaz's keys exist only on your iPhone, and the saved copy is your way to add the account again.

Changing phones

Pair Domains' advice depends on your app. Some apps can bring your codes to a new phone; otherwise, use the saved QR code or recovery key to add the account again on the new phone (Pair Domains). Its separate article on exporting setups covers Google Authenticator's Export accounts feature only (Pair Domains).

Novaz is one of those apps if you use iCloud backup or keep a backup file: restore your accounts on the new iPhone and the codes keep working. Without a Novaz backup, scan your saved QR code again on the new iPhone, or type your saved key with Enter key manually. If you didn't save either, turn 2FA off while you can still sign in with the old phone, then turn it back on with the new one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If Pair Domains rejects your code

Pair Domains' articles don't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Make sure you're reading the Pair Domains entry if you have several accounts in the app. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

If you lose your authenticator

First, set Pair Domains up again from your saved QR code or recovery key. Without them, Pair Domains has to turn two-factor authentication off before you can sign in. Contact Pair Domains by the contact form, at support@pairdomains.com, or by phone at 1.412.381.5195. It will verify your identity first (Pair Domains).

The 2FA article doesn't list what proof it asks for or how long this takes. Its password reset article says that when Pair Domains needs to confirm who you are, it may ask for documents, a phone call, or both, depending on the case (Pair Domains). Keep the Account Contact email address on your account current, since that's where password resets go. See also Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

If you can sign in, turn it off yourself in Account Settings. If you can't, contact Pair Domains as above (Pair Domains). Afterwards, open Pair Domains in Novaz and tap Remove account.

For more protection beyond 2FA, Pair Domains can add a security question to your account, which it checks by phone before it makes changes to your account or domains (Pair Domains).
