OLG 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app for your OLG.ca account

Your OLG.ca player account is the one you use for lottery tickets, online casino games and PROLINE+ sports betting from OLG, Ontario's lottery and gaming corporation. The same account works on the OLG.ca website, the OLG app and the PROLINE+ app. OLG's name for two-factor authentication is Two-Step Verification (2SV), and it's optional. You choose one of two methods: codes sent to your email, or codes from an authenticator app (OLG).
This guide covers the authenticator app method with Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way. OLG's FAQ names a few apps as suggestions, but its Player Agreement allows any third-party authenticator app (OLG).
How we checked this guide: the OLG steps come from OLG's own FAQ and Player Agreement, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on an OLG.ca account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Before you start: verify your email
OLG won't let you turn on 2SV until you've confirmed the email address on your account. The confirmation message comes from support@confirmations.olg.ca. If you registered more than 30 days ago and never clicked the link, it has expired, and OLG asks you to contact playersupport@olg.ca or call 1-800-387-0098 (OLG).
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
These are OLG's web steps (OLG). OLG says the same setting is under Account Information in its apps.
- Log in to OLG.ca, press My Account at the top of the page, and select Account Information from the menu.
- On the Manage Account tab, find the Two-Step Verification (2SV) section and select the Edit pencil.
- In the dialog, choose the authenticator app as your method, then press Save Change.
- A second dialog explains how to link your app and shows a QR code. If you're on a computer, point your iPhone at it: in Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code.
- If you're setting this up on the iPhone itself, OLG's tip is to scan the QR code with the same device. With Novaz, take a screenshot of the code, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- OLG also offers a text version of the key through a button called Copy Manual Code. To use it, tap + in Novaz, then Enter key manually, and paste it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Back on OLG.ca, go to Complete 2SV Setup and type the code from Novaz into the Verification Code box.
A green bar at the top of your Account Information page confirms that 2SV is on, and OLG sends you an email saying which method you picked.
OLG's FAQ says authenticator codes change often and gives "every 30 seconds" only as an example. Novaz makes 30-second, 6-digit codes from a typed key. Scanning the QR code is the safer route, because the QR code carries the code settings with it.
When OLG asks for a code
With the authenticator method, you need a code every time you log in. After your username and password, a 2SV dialog asks for the verification code. Type the current code from Novaz and press Submit (OLG).
The Remember my device checkbox is only for the email method. OLG's FAQ doesn't offer a way to skip authenticator codes on a trusted device.
If OLG rejects your code
If OLG says a code is no longer valid, its advice is to try again, then use the request a new verification code link in the error message. With an app, just wait for a fresh code in Novaz.
Too many wrong codes can lock your account. To get unlocked, OLG points you to its LiveChat, open 24/7, or to 1-855-978-7529 from 8 AM to midnight Eastern time (OLG).
If codes keep failing, check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when your clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
No backup codes
OLG's help pages don't mention backup or recovery codes for 2SV. While you can still log in, your fallback is switching the method to email (below), so keep access to the email address on your account.
If you lose your authenticator
OLG has an FAQ for exactly this, and its answer is to contact player support: LiveChat at any hour, or 1-855-978-7529 from 8 AM to midnight Eastern time (OLG). It doesn't say what proof support asks for or how long it takes. See also Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Changing phones or switching to email
You can change the 2SV method yourself on the web, in the OLG app or in PROLINE+. Open the same Edit pencil and switch from the authenticator app to email, or back. OLG emails you twice: once to confirm the old method is off, and once to confirm the new one (OLG).
Without a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file to restore on the new iPhone, do this while you still have the old phone: switch to email, then switch back to the authenticator app and scan the new QR code on the new iPhone. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
Turning 2SV off
Go to My Account > Account Information, open the Two-Step Verification (2SV) section on the Manage Account tab, select the Edit pencil, and click Do Not Use 2SV. A green bar and an email confirm that it's off (OLG). Then open OLG in Novaz and tap Remove account.
