Panorama9 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Panorama9, which now brands itself as P9, is a cloud service for monitoring and remotely managing computers and networks. One Panorama9 login opens either a company's Panorama9 Dashboard or, for managed service providers, the MSP Control Panel with a dashboard per client (Panorama9). An account like that can reach every device you manage, so a second sign-in step is worth the minute it takes. Panorama9's two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional and uses codes from an authenticator app. You add a recovery route when you set it up: backup codes, an SMS recovery number, or both (Panorama9).
This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Panorama9 steps come from Panorama9's own help center, including the screenshots in its 2FA article, which we read on October 21, 2026. That article was last updated in November 2022. We haven't tested the steps on a Panorama9 account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Each user turns it on for their own login, from their profile (Panorama9):
- Sign in to Panorama9 and open the menu with the hamburger icon in the top right corner.
- Choose My profile and scroll down to Two-Factor authentication.
- Click Enabled. A box titled Configure Two-Factor authentication opens.
- The box shows a QR code (Panorama9 calls it a barcode) next to a text key it calls the time-based key. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If the page is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- If you'd rather type the key, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz. Put Panorama9 under Service, your email under Account if you like, and the time-based key under Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Type the 6-digit code from Novaz into the box and click Verify code and enable.
The setup box still names Google Authenticator and Windows Phone Authenticator as the apps to install. That text is old: what it asks for is a standard time-based code, so Novaz or any other authenticator app is fine.
Set up a way back in before you need it
Panorama9 is blunt about what happens without a recovery route: lose the phone and you can't sign in to the Dashboard or the MSP Control Panel. The same Two-Factor authentication area of My profile offers two safety nets (Panorama9):
- Backup codes. Click Create new backup codes. A box titled Two-Factor authentication backup codes lists ten codes in the help article's screenshot. Each one works once, and making a new set cancels the old one. Panorama9 suggests keeping them somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
- SMS recovery. Fill in Two-Factor SMS recovery mobile number. If you lose your authenticator, Panorama9 sends 2FA recovery codes to that number by text message. The article's screenshot ends with the Update user button at the bottom of the profile, so save the page after you add the number.
If you haven't made a Novaz backup, its keys exist only on your iPhone, so these are your way back in. Do at least one of them right after you turn 2FA on. More in 2FA backup codes.
When Panorama9 asks for a code
The setup box says the code is needed when you sign in (Panorama9). The help center doesn't say whether a device can be remembered or how often you'll be asked.
A separate code for scripts
MSP accounts can also turn on Advanced Security, under MSP Control Panel > Extensions. It isn't part of your sign-in. It makes chosen scripts wait for a 6-digit authorization code from an authenticator app, usually held by a different person, before they run. Panorama9 says any standard 2FA app works, and asks you to download the QR code during setup and keep it very secure, because it can set up more devices or rebuild the setup later (Panorama9). If you keep that QR image, Novaz can read it with +, then Choose a photo.
If Panorama9 rejects your code
Panorama9's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is a phone clock that's a little off. On iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
If you lose your authenticator
Sign in with one of your backup codes, or with a recovery code Panorama9 texts to your SMS recovery number (Panorama9). Once you're in, set up the authenticator again on your new phone and make a fresh set of backup codes.
If you have neither, the help center doesn't describe a recovery process, what proof Panorama9 asks for, or how long it takes. The support address it gives elsewhere is support@panorama9.com (Panorama9). See also Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Changing phones or turning it off
Panorama9's help doesn't explain either one. The screenshots show an Enabled and Disabled switch under Two-Factor authentication in My profile, but the article doesn't describe what turning it off asks for. With Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone. Without one, a new phone means adding Panorama9 again while you can still sign in. Keep the old phone until that's done. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
