Postype (포스타입, written POSTYPE in its English help) is the Korean platform where creators publish posts, run paid memberships and sell their work. Its two-factor authentication (2FA) uses an authenticator app, with two quirks. It only covers email-and-password logins: if you log in with Google, Naver or Facebook, Postype's 2FA doesn't apply and you rely on that service's security instead (Postype). And it's optional until Postype sees your account on too many devices, at which point it becomes required for good.

This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Postype steps come from Postype's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. The help pages refused our plain requests, so we read them through the help center's public article feed on help.postype.com, in English and in the original Korean. Postype says its English pages are translations and the Korean version wins if they differ. We haven't tested the steps on a Postype account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

These steps follow Postype's help (Postype). Korean labels are in parentheses.

  1. Go to My menu > Settings > Account (마이메뉴 > 설정 > 계정), or open postype.com/account/settings.
  2. In the security settings, turn on Two-factor authentication (OTP authenticator app) (2단계 인증(OTP 인증 앱)).
  3. Enter your Postype password.
  4. Postype shows a setup key of 16 capital letters and numbers. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually. Type "Postype" as the Service, your email as the Account if you like, and the key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  5. In Postype, tap Next (다음) and enter the 6-digit code from Novaz.
  6. Tap Done (완료).

Postype's help mentions only the key, not a QR code. If you do see one, tap +, then Scan QR code in Novaz, or use Choose a photo with a screenshot on the same iPhone (how).

Right after you tap Done, Postype logs you out on every device and browser and turns off automatic login, so you'll sign straight back in with a code.

Save the one-time backup codes

In My menu > Settings > Account, tap View one-time backup codes (일회용 백업 코드 확인하기) and enter your password (Postype). Each code works for one login. Postype suggests a screenshot or another copy.

Do this the same day. If that phone is gone and you have no Novaz backup, these codes are your way back in. Store them off the phone. More in 2FA backup codes.

When Postype asks for a code

With 2FA on, every email login asks for your ID, your password, then the Novaz code. Postype's help doesn't mention remembering trusted devices.

  • Passkeys skip the code. If you've added one under Settings > Account, logging in with it needs no authenticator code, even with 2FA on (Postype).
  • Email codes are separate. Postype also requires a 6-digit code sent by email for email logins (Postype). Its pages don't say whether you get both codes once 2FA is on, so check which one each screen asks for.

When 2FA becomes mandatory

If an account is used on too many devices, Postype requires 2FA before you can keep using it. It treats this as a guard against account sharing and says the requirement can't be removed (Postype). The on-screen steps match the ones above. If you never shared the account and haven't used it on three or four personal devices, Postype suggests changing your password. Sharing accounts can get them suspended (Postype).

If Postype rejects your code

Postype's help doesn't cover rejected codes. Check that your iPhone sets its own time: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Also make sure you typed all 16 characters of the key. More in Authenticator code not working?

If you lose your authenticator

On the login screen, tap Verify with one-time backup code (일회용 백업 코드로 인증하기) and enter a saved code. Without one, Postype's advice is to contact its Help Center (Postype). It doesn't say what proof it wants or how long it takes. A passkey, if you registered one, also gets you in without the code. See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Changing phones or turning 2FA off

To turn 2FA off, go to My menu > Settings > Account and turn off Two-factor authentication (OTP authenticator app). If Postype made 2FA mandatory for you, that may not be possible.

Postype doesn't describe moving 2FA to a new phone. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you restore your accounts on the new iPhone (what to do). Without one, while you still have the old phone, turn 2FA off and set it up again on the new one. Then open the old Postype entry in Novaz and tap Remove account.
