RamNode sells cloud servers and cPanel shared hosting. Before you start, know which login you're protecting. RamNode's documentation describes two-factor authentication (2FA) for one account: the cPanel account that comes with a shared hosting plan (RamNode). That's a separate login from the RamNode Client Area, where you order and pay, and RamNode warns people not to mix up the two sets of credentials (RamNode). We found no RamNode page that explains 2FA for the Client Area or the Cloud Control Panel. RamNode's SSH 2FA guide is about the servers you run, not your RamNode account (RamNode).

In cPanel, 2FA is optional and works with a time-based authenticator app. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the RamNode steps come from RamNode's own documentation, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We also read an older RamNode help article in an archived copy on web.archive.org, because its original address now redirects. We haven't tested the steps on a RamNode account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Open cPanel

RamNode suggests going through the Client Area: choose Services, then My Services, pick your shared hosting service and click Login to cPanel. You can also open your domain on port 2083, for example yourdomain.com:2083 (RamNode).

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

These steps follow RamNode's current page (RamNode):

  1. In cPanel, scroll down to the Security section and click Two-Factor Authentication.
  2. Click Set Up Two-Factor Authentication. cPanel shows a QR code and a setup key.
  3. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If cPanel is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  4. To type the key, tap +, then Enter key manually, and paste it into Setup key. Use "RamNode cPanel" as the Service so you can tell it apart from other logins. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  5. Type the current 6-digit code from Novaz back into cPanel. RamNode's older article calls this box Security Code (RamNode, archived).
  6. Click Configure Two-Factor Authentication.

RamNode says the codes have 6 digits and change every 30 seconds, which matches what Novaz uses for a typed key. Scanning or typing both work.

Save the recovery codes

RamNode's current page says cPanel then shows recovery codes and tells you to print them or keep them in a password manager. Each one works once. You can replace them later with Regenerate Recovery Codes, which cancels the old set. RamNode's older article didn't mention recovery codes at all, so if you don't see any, don't count on them.

Keep them even if you use Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file. Without a Novaz backup, its keys live only on your iPhone, so if the phone is gone, so are the codes in it. More in 2FA backup codes.

Signing in afterwards

Enter your cPanel username and password and click Log in as usual. cPanel then asks for a security code: type the one from Novaz and click Verify (RamNode). RamNode's pages don't say whether the Login to cPanel button in the Client Area also asks for the code.

If RamNode rejects your code

RamNode lists three causes: the phone's clock is off, the code expired before you sent it, or you picked the wrong account in the app. Its advice is to set the time automatically and wait for a fresh code instead of typing one that's about to change. On iPhone, that's Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

In cPanel's Two-Factor Authentication page, RamNode says to click Reconfigure for a new QR code and scan it with the new phone. Do this while the old phone still works. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can instead restore your accounts on the new iPhone and keep the same cPanel setup. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

RamNode's page says to look for Use Recovery Code at the 2FA prompt and enter one of your saved codes. Once you're in, set up 2FA again on the new phone and make new recovery codes. Without a code, it tells you to contact hosting support. You can open a ticket from the Client Area. RamNode doesn't say what proof it asks for to remove cPanel 2FA, or how long that takes. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

On the same page, click Remove Two-Factor Authentication and confirm (RamNode). Then open Novaz, open the RamNode entry and tap Remove account.
