Scalefusion is a device management platform, sold as MobiLock in its early years (Scalefusion). Its web Dashboard is where IT admins manage phones, laptops and kiosks, so a stolen Dashboard password reaches a lot of devices.

What's unusual is who decides. 2-step verification isn't a personal setting: an owner or co-account owner turns it on for the whole Dashboard, picks one method, and every admin must then use it (Scalefusion). The methods are an emailed code or an authenticator app. Scalefusion labels the second one Google Authenticator, but it's a standard QR code that other time-based authenticator apps can scan. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Scalefusion steps come from Scalefusion's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026, in the plain-text copies the help center publishes for each article. We haven't tested them on a Scalefusion account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Before you start

  • Only owners and co-account owners can turn it on or off. Other administrators: skip to "Setting it up as an administrator" below.
  • One method at a time. If email codes are already on, disable them before switching to the authenticator option.
  • Nobody is signed out. The change applies at each person's next sign-in (Scalefusion).

Turn on 2-step verification with an authenticator app

These steps come from Scalefusion's 2023 article (Scalefusion). The newer Admins and Roles page, from April 2025, shows the switch as a toggle, so early labels may differ slightly (Scalefusion).

  1. In the Scalefusion Dashboard, go to Admin Panel > Admins and Roles (also reachable from your profile, top right).
  2. Open the Security tab.
  3. Turn on Enable 2-step verification and choose Google Authenticator.
  4. Click Save, enter your Dashboard password, and click Submit.
  5. Scalefusion shows a QR code before it saves the setting. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code. If the Dashboard is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. A success message appears with your backup codes. Click DOWNLOAD, store the file somewhere safe, then click DONE.

Scalefusion's help only describes scanning the QR code. It doesn't mention a text key you could type instead, so plan to scan.

Setting it up as an administrator

If an owner has already switched it on, you register the first time you sign in afterwards (Scalefusion):

  1. Sign in at app.scalefusion.com with your email address and password.
  2. A page explains 2-step verification and shows a QR code. Scan it with Novaz as in step 5 above.
  3. Download and save the backup codes that appear, then click Go To Dashboard.

Backup codes

Scalefusion says the backup codes are for a lost or replaced phone (Scalefusion). Keep them even if you back up Novaz: they get you in if the phone is gone and you have no up-to-date Novaz backup. Store the file in a password manager or print it. The help doesn't say how many codes you get or how to make new ones. More in 2FA backup codes.

Signing in

You're asked for a code at every sign-in to the Dashboard (Scalefusion). After your email and password, Scalefusion shows a screen asking for the Google Authenticator code. Type the current code from Novaz and click Sign In.

If your organization signs in to the Dashboard through Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID or a SAML provider, Scalefusion's help doesn't say whether this step still applies.

If Scalefusion rejects your code

Scalefusion's help doesn't cover rejected codes. Check your iPhone's clock first: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Lost your phone or getting a new one

Start with a backup code. If you don't have one, an owner or co-account owner can help. In Admins and Roles, on the Administrators tab, they open the three dots next to your name and choose one of two options (Scalefusion):

  • Disable Once 2F Authentication lets you sign in one time without a code. The next sign-in asks again.
  • Disable 2F Authentication turns it off for you until someone turns it back on.

The help doesn't say how to register a new phone afterwards, or what an owner does when nobody else can step in. Its only lockout contact is support@scalefusion.com, given for lockouts caused by IP address rules (Scalefusion). It doesn't describe a 2FA recovery process or what proof support wants. See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

With Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you can restore Scalefusion on a new iPhone along with your other accounts. Without one, a new phone means adding Scalefusion again. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

Turning it off

An owner or co-account owner opens Admins and Roles > Security, clicks DISABLE, enters the Dashboard password and clicks SUBMIT. That removes 2-step verification for everyone from the next sign-in on (Scalefusion). To remove it for one person only, use Disable 2F Authentication as described above.
