Synergy Wholesale 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5

Synergy Wholesale is an Australian wholesale provider of domain names, hosting, email and other services, sold to resellers who manage them in its Wholesale System at manage.synergywholesale.com. Unlike most services, you don't switch two-factor authentication (2FA) on here. It's already on for every account, and the starting method is a code sent to your account email (Synergy Wholesale). What you can change is the method: an authenticator app, email or SMS. This guide moves your account to an authenticator app, using Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Synergy Wholesale steps come from Synergy Wholesale's own support centre articles, linked below, which we read on October 22, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Synergy Wholesale account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Why switch from email codes
Your login email is often the weak spot: if someone gets into that mailbox, an emailed code doesn't stop them. A code made on your phone doesn't depend on your inbox. Since anyone with access to your account can manage domains, hosting and top-ups, that difference matters. More in authenticator app vs SMS.
Switch to an authenticator app
Synergy Wholesale's article describes these steps (Synergy Wholesale):
- Sign in to the Wholesale System.
- From the menu, go to User Security, then Two-Factor Authentication. Another article gives the direct address, manage.synergywholesale.com/home/user/security#two-factor, and says User Security also sits in the dropdown at the top right (Synergy Wholesale).
- Choose Authentication App, then click Enable.
- Synergy Wholesale shows a barcode (a QR code). In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the code Novaz shows into the Wholesale System to confirm it works.
The article only talks about scanning. It doesn't mention a text key you could type instead, so plan to scan the QR code.
The article is old: it suggests Google Authenticator and even a Windows Phone app. Any authenticator app that reads a QR code should do the same job.
Set a backup method
Synergy Wholesale says you can configure a backup method as well as your main one, and switch methods at any time (Synergy Wholesale). Its article doesn't explain how you pick the backup at sign-in, and it doesn't mention backup or recovery codes. Unless you've backed up Novaz with iCloud backup or a backup file, its keys exist only on your iPhone, so setting email or SMS as a backup is your best protection against losing the phone.
When it asks for a code
After setup, each sign-in asks for your username and password, then a code from the method you chose. On a computer you trust, you can tick Remember computer for 30 days to skip the code until that time runs out. Synergy Wholesale advises against it on shared or public devices (Synergy Wholesale).
Additional Users need their own setup
Each Additional User on your account has a separate login and separate 2FA settings, so changing your method changes nothing for them. Each user signs in and sets their own method under User Security (Synergy Wholesale). The primary account can check each user's 2FA status on the users tab of Account Settings (Synergy Wholesale).
If Synergy Wholesale rejects your code
Synergy Wholesale's articles don't cover wrong authenticator codes. Check your iPhone's clock first: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes in Authenticator code not working?
Be careful with retries: five failed sign-in attempts within a minute can block you for a while. The notice shows when the block ends, and recovery@synergywholesale.com can lift it if it's urgent (Synergy Wholesale).
Changing phones or losing your authenticator
The articles don't describe moving the authenticator to a new phone. Because Synergy Wholesale lets you change methods at any time, the practical route is to do it while the old phone still works: sign in, go back to Two-Factor Authentication, set up Authentication App again and scan the new code with the new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can skip this and restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If the phone is gone, use your backup method if you set one. If not, Synergy Wholesale's only stated route is its support team, through a Support Request, Livechat or by phone on (03) 8399 9483 (Synergy Wholesale). It doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long a reset takes. See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
