101domain 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
101domain is a domain registrar, so your account there controls domain names, DNS records and renewals, often for a business. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional, and 101domain offers one kind: a code from an authenticator app, which you type each time you log in (101domain). Its help names Google Authenticator but says any 2FA app should work. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the 101domain steps come from 101domain's own help center articles, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on a 101domain account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
101domain's help describes these steps (101domain):
- Log in to your 101domain account.
- At the top right, open the Welcome, [YOUR NAME] menu and select My Account.
- On the left, under Security, select Two Factor Authentication.
- 101domain shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the page is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the current 6-digit code from Novaz into the Verification Code field and click Add Credential.
- A new window lists your backup 2FA codes. Save them before you close it (more below).
Your account then lists the active two-factor authentication credentials.
The help article mentions entering a key as an alternative to scanning, but it doesn't show where the key appears or what it's called. If you find one and type it, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz and put it in Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
Save the backup codes
The backup codes are one-time codes for when you can't reach your authenticator (101domain). 101domain's help doesn't say how many you get, whether you can see them again later, or how to make new ones, so treat that first window as your only chance.
101domain's help center also has an article on turning on Google Authenticator's sync, so codes follow you to other devices (101domain). Novaz's keys stay on your iPhone unless you make a backup: turn on iCloud backup (PRO) or use Export to file… (free) under Settings › Backup. Keep the backup codes as well, in a password manager or on paper, away from the phone, for the day the phone is gone and you have no up-to-date Novaz backup. See 2FA backup codes.
Single sign-on and 2FA
A 101domain account can also log in through a company identity provider such as Google, Microsoft, Okta or OneLogin. 101domain's SSO FAQ says that when you log in with SSO, you no longer need the 2FA code to get in, but you can still be asked for it before critical actions in the account (101domain). Its advice is to "hold on to your 2FA app" for that reason. If password login stays available next to SSO, it keeps asking for the code.
If 101domain rejects your code
101domain's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
101domain's pages don't describe removing a credential, adding one for a new phone, or turning 2FA off. If you turned on iCloud backup or saved a backup file in Novaz, restore your accounts on the new iPhone and the codes carry on. Without one, plan the switch while the old phone still makes codes, and keep your backup codes at hand. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Use a backup code to log in. Without one, 101domain's help says you need its account recovery process to have the 2FA device removed, and to contact the Support Team for help (101domain).
The recovery process works like this (101domain):
- Fill in the Account Recovery webform. In the Access Issue section, select every reason you can't get in. If you don't remember your security question answers, also select Forgotten Security Question Answers.
- Click Submit. You get a confirmation email.
- 101domain reviews the request within 24 to 48 hours and emails you either approval or a request for more documents.
The next step may be an identity check through Persona, a verification company 101domain works with. Persona asks for a valid ID, such as a driver's license or passport, possibly a selfie, and for organizations, company papers such as a business registration. 101domain says it usually follows up within 2 business days of that check (101domain).
A domain close to expiring can still be renewed while you're locked out: enter it on 101domain's Renew Your Domain page and pay through the link sent to the email on file (101domain). You need access to the primary account holder's or the domain registrant's inbox for that.
Support is reachable by ticket, live chat, phone or email (101domain). More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
