Travala 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Travala.com is a travel booking site where you can pay for hotels, flights and activities with cryptocurrency, and your account can hold travel credits and crypto. Since June 2026, Travala doesn't ask for a password when you sign in. It emails you a one-time code instead, and if you've turned on two-factor authentication (2FA), you also pass a 2FA step after that code (Travala). 2FA is optional, but Travala strongly recommends it (Travala).
Travala's help center talks about Google Authenticator, but its blog names other authenticator apps too (Travala). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, and any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Travala steps come from Travala's own help center and blog, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. The help center's web pages showed a bot check to our plain requests, so we read the same articles through the help center's public article feed on help.travala.com. We haven't tested the steps on a Travala account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Travala's blog post from November 2025 gives the full path (Travala):
- Sign in to your Travala account.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and choose Account Settings.
- Open the Security tab.
- Under Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), click Enable.
- Travala shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the 6-digit code from Novaz into the Travala prompt and click Confirm.
- Save the backup codes Travala gives you.
Travala's newer help article, updated in October 2026, calls the place Security Settings and the button Enable 2FA, so the labels you see may differ from the blog (Travala). Neither page mentions a text key you can type instead of scanning, so plan to scan the QR code. If Travala does show a key, you can add it in Novaz with +, then Enter key manually. See What is a 2FA setup key?
Backup codes
Travala creates a set of backup codes when you turn on 2FA. You can type one at the sign-in prompt in place of an authenticator code (Travala). They're your way back in if that phone is lost and you have no Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, or the backup is out of date. Keep them in a password manager or on paper, away from the phone.
Travala doesn't describe a separate button for new codes. To get a fresh set, you turn 2FA off in your security settings, which takes a current authenticator code, and then turn it on again. That gives you a new QR code and new backup codes (Travala). Remove the old Travala entry from Novaz afterwards: open it and tap Remove account. More in 2FA backup codes.
Signing in afterwards
Each sign-in has two steps: the one-time code Travala emails you, then the code from your authenticator app (Travala). Travala doesn't document trusted devices or a way to skip the 2FA step on a familiar computer.
Keep access to your email, too. Travala says you can't get into the account without the emailed code, and support is the only route if you've lost access to that inbox (Travala).
If Travala rejects your code
Travala's help puts rejected codes down to a clock that's out of sync, especially right after a phone change. Its fix is to switch the phone's date and time from manual to automatic (Travala). On iPhone, that's Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
Travala's article on moving to a new phone only covers Google Authenticator's own transfer feature (Travala). With Novaz, an iCloud backup or backup file lets you restore your accounts on the new iPhone. Without one, while you still have the old phone, turn 2FA off in Travala's security settings and turn it on again with Novaz on the new phone. You'll get new backup codes too. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
- You have a backup code: type it at the sign-in prompt, then go to your security settings and set up 2FA again on your new phone (Travala).
- You don't: Travala's team can turn off 2FA by hand once it has verified who you are. Send the request from the email address registered on your Travala account to support@travala.com. Travala doesn't list what proof it asks for or how long this takes.
Once you're back in, set up 2FA again straight away. Travala warns that an account without it is easier to take over while you wait. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
In your security settings, choose Disable 2FA and enter a current code from your authenticator app (Travala). Then remove Travala from Novaz.
