YouHodler 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5

YouHodler is a crypto platform for wallets, crypto-backed loans and yield. Every account starts with two-factor authentication (2FA) already on, using email codes by default. From your profile settings you can switch to text-message codes or to an authenticator app, which YouHodler calls Google 2FA (YouHodler). YouHodler recommends the app over SMS, because text messages depend on your phone carrier and can arrive late (YouHodler).
Despite the name, Google 2FA doesn't need a Google account: it's a standard authenticator code. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, and any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the YouHodler steps come from YouHodler's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 22, 2026. We haven't tested them on a YouHodler account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
YouHodler's setup article was last updated in May 2024, so the screens may have changed since (YouHodler):
- Open your Profile settings at app.youhodler.com and find the Two-factor authentication section.
- Choose Use Authenticator App. YouHodler offers buttons to install Authy or Google Authenticator, which you can skip.
- YouHodler shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If you're using YouHodler on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the code from Novaz into the Security code field and choose ENABLE 2FA.
- YouHodler then asks you to sign in again with a code from the app.
The help article doesn't mention a text key you can type in place of the QR code, and it doesn't say how many digits the codes have or how often they change. Scan the QR code if you can, because it carries those settings to Novaz. If YouHodler does show you a key, you can add it with + and Enter key manually: see What is a 2FA setup key?
No backup codes are documented
None of YouHodler's 2FA articles mention backup or recovery codes. If you lose your iPhone and have no Novaz iCloud backup or backup file to restore from, your way back in is YouHodler support and an identity check (below). Keep the ID document you verified your account with.
When YouHodler asks for a code
YouHodler's account security article says the code is needed each time you sign in (YouHodler). Crypto withdrawals also need a confirmation code: in the Withdrawal form you get it from your authenticator app (or by SMS, with Get SMS code) before you press WITHDRAW (YouHodler).
If you want withdrawals blocked entirely, YouHodler has a separate setting it calls 3FA. It's turned on by support, not in your profile, and needs a balance above 100 USD (YouHodler).
If YouHodler rejects your code
YouHodler describes its 2FA as a "black box service" that it doesn't control: it passes your code on to be checked (YouHodler). Its advice for an invalid code error, and for trouble scanning the QR code during setup, is to fix your phone's time:
- Type the current code, not one that just expired.
- On iPhone, go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically.
Novaz also warns you when your iPhone's clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
If you lose your authenticator
YouHodler's newest 2FA article, updated in February 2026, says to contact support through the chat or at support@youhodler.com to have 2FA turned off. Have the identity document you registered with ready, because support runs a liveness check with it (YouHodler).
The older setup article from 2024 describes the proof in more detail: a single selfie showing you holding that document and a sheet of paper with the company name, today's date and the words Disable 2FA, emailed to support (YouHodler). Follow what support asks for. Neither page says how long this takes.
Once support turns off the authenticator, your account goes back to email codes. Sign in with an email code, then set up the authenticator again. If the email code doesn't work either, contact support again. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Changing phones
YouHodler doesn't describe moving 2FA to a new phone. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone and keep using the same codes. Without one, YouHodler has to be set up again on the new phone: turn off the authenticator (next section) while you still have the old phone, then repeat the setup. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
Turning 2FA off
YouHodler's two articles disagree here. The 2024 setup article shows a self-service option: on your Profile page, scroll to Two-Factor Authentication, enter a code from the app and choose DISABLE (YouHodler). The 2026 article only describes turning it off through support with an identity check (YouHodler). Look for the button first. If it isn't there, contact support. Either way, you go back to email codes, not to no 2FA. YouHodler advises keeping 2FA on the whole time you use the platform (YouHodler).
After you switch away from the app, open YouHodler in Novaz and tap Remove account.
