Your bunny.net account is the dashboard at dash.bunny.net. It holds your CDN pull zones, storage zones, DNS zones and Stream libraries (bunny.net), plus the prepaid balance that pays for them (bunny.net). bunny.net documents one way to add two-factor authentication (2FA): a time-based code from an authenticator app. Its help doesn't describe text messages, security keys or any other method. Once 2FA is on, the dashboard wants a code "each time you log in" (bunny.net).

The steps below use Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any app that makes time-based codes works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the bunny.net steps come from bunny.net's own documentation, linked below, including the screenshot of the setup page on its Two-Factor Authentication page. We read it on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested the steps on a bunny.net account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

bunny.net's documentation describes this flow (bunny.net):

  1. Log in at dash.bunny.net, go to Account Settings and click Enable Two-Factor Authentication. bunny.net also links straight to the Two-Factor Setup page, at dash.bunny.net/account/settings/twofactorsetup.
  2. The setup page is split into three numbered parts. Under 1. Set up authentication you'll find a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and aim the camera at it. Working on the same iPhone? Take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  3. Under 2. Validate, type the 6-digit code Novaz now shows for bunny.net.
  4. Under 3. Backup, bunny.net lists your backup codes. Write them down, or click Copy restore codes and paste them somewhere safe.
  5. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication at the bottom of the page.

The written steps end at the backup codes. Step 5 comes from the screenshot on the same help page.

About typing a key. The help only describes scanning. Its screenshot shows two blurred fields with copy buttons below the QR code, which the page doesn't explain. If one of them gives you a setup key, tap + in Novaz, then Enter key manually, and paste it as the Setup key (see What is a 2FA setup key?). Still, scan if you can: bunny.net doesn't say how often its codes change, and only a QR code passes those settings to Novaz. A typed key always gets 6 digits every 30 seconds.

Save your restore codes

The help calls them backup codes, and the button on the setup screen says restore codes. Each one lets you log in once without the app, then stops working (bunny.net). bunny.net doesn't say how many you get or whether you can make a fresh set later.

If that phone is gone and you have no Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file), these codes are your way in. Keep them in a password manager or on paper, away from the phone. More in 2FA backup codes.

Your API key and team members

The 2FA help covers only your own dashboard login. It doesn't mention these two:

  • The account API key. bunny.net says this key has full access to your account (bunny.net). The help doesn't say 2FA changes anything about it, so guard it like a password. If you think it has leaked, regenerate it with the refresh icon on Account > API Key. The old key stops working at once.
  • Team members. Each person you invite logs in with their own email and password (bunny.net). The team pages don't mention 2FA, so they don't say whether a member can turn it on, or whether you can require it.

If bunny.net rejects your code

bunny.net's help has no advice for this. The usual cause is a drifting phone clock. On iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz shows a warning when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other fixes are in Authenticator code not working?

Moving to a new iPhone

bunny.net doesn't describe moving 2FA to another phone. The route its help supports is to turn 2FA off with a code from your current app, then turn it on again and scan the new QR code with the new phone. Turning it off needs a working code, so do it before you give up the old phone, and save the new backup codes. If Novaz is backed up with iCloud backup or a backup file, you can restore it on the new iPhone instead. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

  1. At the login code prompt, use one of your backup codes.
  2. If you've lost both the app and the codes, bunny.net says you'll have to contact its support team to get back in (bunny.net). You can reach them through bunny.net's contact page.

The help doesn't say what proof support asks for or how long the process takes. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

Go back to Account Settings and click Disable Two-Factor Authentication, then confirm with a code from your app (bunny.net). bunny.net advises keeping it on unless you need to turn it off. Afterwards, open the bunny.net entry in Novaz and tap Remove account.
