CDNsun 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app
By the Novaz team · Updated October 29, 2026
Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
CDNsun is a content delivery network: its customer area is where you create CDN services, watch usage and pay your balance. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional there, and there's one method, a time-based code from an authenticator app. CDNsun's help names Google Authenticator, but the codes are standard time-based ones, so other apps work too (CDNsun).
What stands out is the backup plan. CDNsun's help doesn't mention recovery codes. It asks you to put a phone number on your account before you turn 2FA on, and uses that number as the fallback if you lose the app. This guide covers both parts. We use Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone in the steps, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the CDNsun steps come from CDNsun's own knowledge base, linked below, which we read on October 24, 2026. We haven't tested them on a CDNsun account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Step 1: add your phone number first
Sign in to CDNsun and open the Billing/Settings page. Fill in your phone number there before you go any further. CDNsun says it will use this number as a backup if you lose access to your authenticator app, for example if you delete it by accident (CDNsun).
On the same page this is the Company phone field. CDNsun's page about account contacts describes it as the backup contact for two-factor authentication, and says it isn't used for notifications (CDNsun). So it's worth using a number you expect to keep, not an old desk line.
Step 2: turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
CDNsun's knowledge base describes these steps (CDNsun):
- On the Billing/Settings page, click the Update 2FA button.
- CDNsun takes you to a page with a QR code.
- In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code. If you're viewing CDNsun on the same iPhone, take a screenshot first, then tap + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the current code from Novaz into CDNsun to confirm the setup.
CDNsun's help only describes the QR code. It doesn't say whether the page also shows a text key, or how many digits and seconds its codes use. Scanning is the safer route, because the QR code passes those settings to your app. If you do find a key and type it with + > Enter key manually, Novaz makes 6-digit codes every 30 seconds. See What is a 2FA setup key?
When CDNsun asks for a code
From then on, CDNsun asks for a code from your app every time you sign in to your account (CDNsun). Its help doesn't mention a way to trust a device or skip the prompt.
No recovery codes
CDNsun's knowledge base doesn't describe backup or recovery codes. Your phone number on file is the only backup it mentions. Novaz can restore its keys on a new iPhone from iCloud backup or a backup file. Without one, if that iPhone is lost, the phone number and CDNsun's support team are your way back in. Keep the Company phone field current whenever your number changes. For general advice on codes from other services, see 2FA backup codes.
If CDNsun rejects your code
CDNsun's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the phone's clock. On iPhone, go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
If you lose your authenticator
CDNsun says the phone number from Billing/Settings is the backup for this case, but its help doesn't explain the process: whether it sends a text, calls you, or checks the number some other way, and how long it takes. The practical route is CDNsun support, which its site says is reachable 24 hours a day, at info@cdnsun.com or through the Contact us form (CDNsun). Write from your primary email, the address you sign in with, and be ready to give the phone number you saved (CDNsun).

Changing phones
CDNsun doesn't document a way to move 2FA to a new phone. The Update 2FA button on Billing/Settings suggests the setting can be changed there, but the help page only describes turning it on, so we can't confirm what it does when 2FA is already on. Keep your old iPhone until you've checked that the new one works. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore CDNsun on the new iPhone; without one, you'll add it to the new phone from a fresh QR code. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
Turning 2FA off
CDNsun's knowledge base doesn't say how to turn 2FA off. If you need to, start at Billing/Settings, or ask support.
