Calendly 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5

Calendly is where your booking links, connected calendars and the details of everyone who books time with you live, so its login is worth protecting. Its two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional and available on every plan, but it only applies if you sign in with a Calendly email address and password (Calendly, Calendly). The one method Calendly documents is a code from an authenticator app. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, and any other authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Calendly steps come from Calendly's own help center and release notes, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Calendly account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
First, check how you sign in
Calendly accepts several kinds of login, and its 2FA setting only matters for one of them (Calendly):
- Calendly email and password: this guide is for you.
- Google, or Microsoft 365 / Outlook.com: Calendly says this login relies on your Google or Microsoft account's own security, and calls it the safest option (Calendly). Set up 2FA in that account instead.
- Your company's SAML single sign-on: your identity provider handles sign-in. Once an organization turns on SSO, its members can no longer use a Calendly password (Calendly).
Your login method is managed in Settings under Profile, on the Login tab.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
These steps combine two Calendly articles (Calendly, Calendly):
- Sign in to Calendly and open Settings in the left navigation.
- Under Account, select Profile, then open the Login tab.
- Find Two-factor authentication and switch it On.
- Enter your Calendly password when asked.
- Calendly shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See how to scan a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the code Novaz shows into Calendly to finish the setup.
Calendly's article only talks about scanning. It doesn't mention a text key, or say how many digits its codes have or how often they change, so scan the QR code: it carries those settings to Novaz. If Calendly does show a key, tap +, then Enter key manually, and paste it into Setup key. More in What is a 2FA setup key?
Signing in afterwards
With 2FA on, Calendly asks for an authenticator code every time you sign in with your password, not only when something looks unusual (Calendly).
There's a second, separate check. When a sign-in looks unusual, for example from a new device or location, Calendly may email a one-time code to your login address, and its help says this can happen even without 2FA (Calendly). So read each prompt: one code comes from Novaz, the other from your inbox.
Calendly's help lists no backup codes
The 2FA article doesn't mention backup codes, recovery codes or a second method. As far as Calendly documents it, Novaz is your only source of codes, so turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file in Novaz. Also keep your login email current, since Calendly sends its verification emails there, and note the support route below.
If Calendly rejects your code
Calendly's pages don't cover wrong authenticator codes. Most often, the iPhone's clock has drifted. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. If the clock is 15 seconds or more off, Novaz shows a warning.
For the emailed codes, Calendly limits wrong attempts and new requests, and says to contact support if you get stuck (Calendly). Other fixes are in Authenticator code not working?
Moving to a new iPhone
Calendly doesn't describe a phone switch. Using the steps it does document, you can handle it yourself while you can still sign in: switch Two-factor authentication off, then on again, and scan the new QR code with the new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore it on the new iPhone instead. Without one, keep the old phone until this is done. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Calendly doesn't document a self-service way back in. The route is Calendly Support, on its contact page:
- Chat: a chat assistant is available to everyone. A live agent is available on the Standard, Teams and Enterprise plans.
- Email ticket: a form on the same page. Calendly says email requests usually get an answer within 24 hours.
The form asks for an email address, so give the one you sign in with. Calendly doesn't say what proof it asks for before it removes 2FA, or how long a reset takes. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
Go to Settings > Profile > Login, switch Two-factor authentication Off, and confirm with your password (Calendly). Then remove Calendly from Novaz: open the account and tap Remove account.
