ClassLink is the sign-in portal many school systems give students and staff: you sign in once and land on the LaunchPad home page with your school apps. The account comes from your school, and so do its multi-factor authentication (MFA) rules: your school picks the methods you see, whether you can change them, and helps when you're locked out (ClassLink).

The authenticator-app method is called Mobile Authenticator. ClassLink's help describes it with its own app, ClassLink Verify, but its product page says other apps, such as Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator, work too (ClassLink). Schools can also offer Duo Push, a picture, a six-digit PIN, a YubiKey or text messages (ClassLink). The steps below use Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but other authenticator apps follow the same pattern.

How we checked this guide: the ClassLink steps come from ClassLink's own help center and product pages, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a ClassLink account, and every school system sets ClassLink up its own way, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Check what your school allows

  • Mobile Authenticator only appears if your school turned it on (ClassLink).
  • LaunchPad holds one MFA method at a time (ClassLink). Choosing Mobile Authenticator replaces the one you had, and the help shows no off switch, only a way to move to another method.
  • It may be required. ClassLink urges schools to require MFA for administrators and accounts with access to protected data, using apps rather than text messages (ClassLink).

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

ClassLink's guide, updated in October 2026, starts on a computer (ClassLink):

  1. Sign in on your school system's ClassLink login page. If you don't know it, search for your school system at launchpad.classlink.com (ClassLink).
  2. On the LaunchPad home page, click your profile picture, then Settings.
  3. Open the Security tab and choose Mobile Authenticator from the MFA method dropdown. If it's already your method and you're redoing it, click CONFIGURE instead (ClassLink).
  4. A QR code appears. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and hold the iPhone up to the computer screen. (ClassLink's guide uses Scan a QR code in ClassLink Verify here.)
  5. Type the six-digit code from Novaz and click Save. A LaunchPad notification confirms that Mobile Authenticator is enabled.

ClassLink's help mentions no text key and no code interval, so scan the QR code, which carries the code settings. If your screen does offer a key, + > Enter key manually accepts it (What is a 2FA setup key?), but a typed key always gets 30-second codes.

In the LaunchPad iPhone app: since May 2026 you can set up MFA from Settings, or when the login page prompts you (ClassLink). The QR code is then on the same iPhone: take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo, and delete the screenshot afterward. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.

When LaunchPad asks for a code

The code comes after your username and password. You can have a device remembered for 30 days, on the web and, since March 2026, in the mobile apps, where Your Login Sessions lets you forget remembered devices (ClassLink).

No backup codes

ClassLink's LaunchPad help mentions no backup or recovery codes, and with one method per account there's no second way in. Without a Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file), the keys exist only on your iPhone, so your safety net is your school's technology department. Know how to reach it before you need it.

If a code expires while you type, ClassLink says to use the next one. If a current code is refused, check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz flags a clock that's 15 seconds or more out. Other causes: Authenticator code not working?

Still refused? ClassLink sends you to your school technology department. Give them your MFA method and the exact error, but never your password, PIN, a code or the QR code (ClassLink).

Changing phones

While you can still reach your LaunchPad home page, your school may let you redo the setup: Security tab, CONFIGURE, then scan the new QR code with the new iPhone (ClassLink). Otherwise, tell your school technology department you replaced your phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restore it on the new iPhone and ClassLink comes with it; without one, ClassLink gets added on the new iPhone from scratch; see How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Contact your school technology department, not ClassLink: its help says it can't provide your login information (ClassLink).

Your school can clear your MFA. A ClassLink Administrator can give teachers or staff delegated MFA reset access; they find you in the Security Center app and click a circular-arrow reset icon, and you set up a method again (ClassLink). ClassLink doesn't say what proof your school asks for or how long it takes. For a wider checklist, see Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Staff at edtech companies use ClassLink's Partner Portal, which works differently (ClassLink). New accounts start with email codes. To add an app, hover over your profile card, click Profile Settings, open Security, scan the QR code under Mobile Authenticator, add a nickname and the code, and click Verify Code. For a reset, contact your Partner Relationship Manager or partners@classlink.com.
