At dinahosting, two-factor authentication (2FA) protects the Control Panel, where you manage the domains, hosting, servers and email you have with the company. It's optional, but dinahosting recommends always using it, and the only method its help describes is a code from an authenticator app that changes every 30 seconds (dinahosting). Two details set it apart: you get a single recovery code instead of a list, and signing in with that code switches 2FA off (dinahosting).

This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the dinahosting steps come from dinahosting's own help center, linked below, including its screenshots, which we read on October 20, 2026. The help center is in Spanish, so we give the panel's labels in Spanish with our translation; an English panel will word them differently. We haven't tested the steps on a dinahosting account. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

dinahosting's help describes these steps (dinahosting):

  1. Sign in to the Control Panel at panel.dinahosting.com.
  2. Go to Mi cuenta (My account) > Preferencias (Preferences) and open the Seguridad (Security) tab.
  3. Check the box Utilizar Verificación en 2 Pasos (Use 2-Step Verification). A window titled Verificación en dos pasos (Two-step verification) opens with a QR code.
  4. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the panel is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  5. Type the code Novaz shows into the Código verificación (Verification code) field and select Aceptar (OK).
  6. dinahosting now shows your recovery code. Write it down before you close the window (more below).

The window also prints the key the QR code was made from. In the help's example it's only 14 characters, and Novaz needs at least 16 for Enter key manually, so scan the QR code instead. See What is a 2FA setup key?

The help adds that the same QR code can go on several devices, such as those of people you trust with your panel. If you want a spare device of your own, add it while the QR code is on screen. Later, Novaz can only bring its keys to another iPhone through iCloud backup or a backup file.

Your one recovery code

Once 2FA is on, dinahosting generates a recovery code, shown in the help as four groups of four characters. dinahosting stresses keeping it: it's your way in if you can't use the app, and without it a lost phone locks you out of that route (dinahosting).

Unless you've turned on iCloud backup or exported a backup file, Novaz's keys exist only on your iPhone, so this code is what you'd fall back on. Keep it in a password manager or on paper, away from the phone. See 2FA backup codes.

Signing in

From then on, every Control Panel sign-in asks for your password and then the code from your app. The code screen has a Código (Code) field, a Confiar en este dispositivo (Trust this device) checkbox and an Iniciar sesión (Sign in) button (dinahosting). The help doesn't explain what trusting a device changes or for how long.

If dinahosting rejects your code

dinahosting's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

If you lose your authenticator

dinahosting's documented way back in uses the recovery code (dinahosting):

  1. Sign in with your username and password as usual.
  2. On the code screen, select ¡Oooops! No puedo usar mi aplicación de autenticación. (I can't use my authentication app).
  3. Enter the code in Código de recuperación (Recovery code) and select Iniciar sesión.

You're signed in, and 2FA is now off for the account. Turn it back on from the Seguridad tab with Novaz on the phone you have now. Activation generates a recovery code again, so save the new one.

Without the recovery code, the help describes no other route. dinahosting offers free 24/7 support by phone, email and chat (dinahosting), but doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long a reset takes. See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Changing phones

The help doesn't cover a new phone. It does document the on/off checkbox, so while the old phone still works, turn 2FA off, then on again, and scan the new QR code with Novaz on the new iPhone. If you've backed up Novaz to iCloud or to a backup file, you can skip that and restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

Turning 2FA off

Return to Mi cuenta > Preferencias > Seguridad and uncheck Utilizar Verificación en 2 Pasos (dinahosting). Then open the entry in Novaz and tap Remove account.

Webmail has its own 2FA

Each Webmail account has a separate setting, under Configuración (Settings) > Autenticación en dos pasos (Two-step authentication). Scan the QR code, select Activar (Turn on), and save the recovery code it gives you. Desactivar turns it off after asking for a current code (dinahosting). The Control Panel setting doesn't cover Webmail.
