Dinero 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Dinero is the Danish online accounting program from Visma Dinero, used by small businesses for invoicing, bookkeeping and their year-end accounts. You don't sign in to Dinero directly. Your login is a Visma Connect account, the sign-in system Visma uses across its products, so two-factor authentication (2FA) is set up there and then covers Dinero too (Dinero). It's optional. Once it's on, you type a 6-digit code from an authenticator app each time you sign in, after your password.
Visma Connect also offers text messages, push prompts in its own Visma Authenticator app, and security keys. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Dinero steps come from Dinero's own Danish help pages, including the screenshots in them, which we read on October 22, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Dinero account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Dinero's help article, updated August 14, 2026, mixes Danish and English screens, and its text and screenshots don't always match, so expect small differences (Dinero):
- In Dinero, open Konto in the top-right corner and choose Brugerprofil.
- Choose Gå til Visma Connect, or Tilføj to-faktor in the To-faktor login box below it.
- In Visma Connect, open Login og sikkerhed (the article's text calls it "Log ind og sikkerhed").
- Scroll to the bottom. Under Tofaktorgodkendelse, turn on the switch Kræv et ekstra trin ved login.
- Visma asks for your password again. Type it and choose Sign in.
- On Get started with 2FA, choose Next.
- The next screen recommends Visma's own app for push notifications. To use Novaz, choose I use another Authenticator app instead of Next.
- Visma shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the 6-digit code from Novaz to confirm, and continue.
- Write down the recovery code Visma shows you (below), then finish.
Dinero's help doesn't say whether Visma shows a text key next to the QR code, or how often the codes change. Scan the QR code if you can: it carries the code settings to your app. If you do find a key and type it with Enter key manually, Novaz uses the common 6-digit, 30-second setting. See What is a 2FA setup key?
Keep the recovery code
During setup Visma gives you one long code to write down, in case you lose your phone. Dinero suggests keeping it somewhere you'll remember but others can't easily reach, and advises against saving it on your computer, where an attacker would find it more easily (Dinero).
In the newer Visma Connect screens it's called Nødadgangskode: a single-use emergency code that's shown only once, when it's created. The same row has a Generer kode button for making a new one (Dinero).
Novaz's keys stay on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, so this code matters: store it on paper or in a password manager. More in 2FA backup codes.
Other methods and the same login elsewhere
After the authenticator app is on, you can also turn on text-message codes: go back to Login og sikkerhed and choose Aktivér SMS (Dinero). Visma's own screen recommends keeping at least two methods active, and a second method is a useful fallback if your phone goes missing. The same screen describes the authenticator app method as one that can't be removed, so you can't drop it while keeping 2FA on.
Because the login is shared, the same Visma Connect account can sign you in to other Visma products, such as e-conomic, if your email address is used there too (Dinero).
If Dinero rejects your code
Dinero's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
Dinero's help doesn't describe moving to a new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restore it on the new iPhone and your Dinero codes come with it. If not, while the old phone still works, turn 2FA off and on again (below) to get a new QR code for the new phone. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Use your recovery code to get back in. If you no longer have the phone and can't find the code either, Dinero says its support team can send you an emergency code (Dinero). Dinero's help doesn't say what proof support asks for or how long it takes. Its support address is support@dinero.dk (Dinero).
If you've turned on text messages as a second method, you can use those instead. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
Go to Konto > Brugerprofil > Gå til Visma Connect > Login og sikkerhed, scroll down and switch off Kræv et ekstra trin ved login (Dinero). Then open the Dinero entry in Novaz and tap Remove account.
