FACEIT 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5

Your FACEIT account holds your matchmaking history, Elo, league and tournament teams, and FACEIT points. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional, and FACEIT's help center doesn't make it a condition for anything. It is, though, the first thing FACEIT tells you to switch on after a scam or a hacked account, and FACEIT says it can't give back points lost because someone else got into your account (FACEIT, FACEIT).
FACEIT documents one method: a 6-digit code from an authenticator app. Its setup article links to Google Authenticator, and there's no text message option in its help (FACEIT). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the FACEIT steps come from FACEIT's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a FACEIT account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
FACEIT's setup article, last edited in August 2026, gives these steps (FACEIT):
- Open your account settings on faceit.com.
- Select Edit, then Turn On next to Two-Factor Authentication.
- A popup shows a QR code, which FACEIT calls a barcode. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at your screen. If the popup is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, then tap + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Download the backup codes FACEIT gives you and store them somewhere safe.
- Enter the 6-digit code Novaz now shows for FACEIT.
- Click finish to complete the setup.
FACEIT's article doesn't mention a key you can type instead of scanning, and it doesn't say how often the codes change. If the popup does show a key, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz, and type it as the Setup key (What is a 2FA setup key?). Scanning is still the better choice: the QR code carries the code settings, while a typed key always gets 6 digits every 30 seconds.
Notice the order. The backup codes come before you confirm your first code, so save them at that step. FACEIT's help doesn't say whether you can see them again later.
Steam sign-in still asks for the code
FACEIT is rolling out a way to sign in through your Steam account. Its Steam guide says that once you're back on FACEIT, an account with 2FA turned on asks for the 2FA code before it lets you in (FACEIT). So keep the FACEIT entry in Novaz even if you mostly sign in with Steam. Novaz makes time-based codes only and can't produce Steam Guard codes, so Steam's own sign-in stays in Steam's app.
FACEIT's help doesn't mention remembering a device or asking for a code at other moments, such as changing your email.
Your backup codes
FACEIT's help doesn't say how many backup codes you get, whether each works only once, or where to type one at sign-in. Its article for people who replaced their phone doesn't mention them at all (FACEIT). Keep them anyway. If you lose your phone without a Novaz backup, or with one older than your FACEIT entry, the downloaded codes are your only fallback that doesn't go through Support. A password manager or a printed sheet away from your phone works. More in 2FA backup codes.
If FACEIT rejects your code
FACEIT's setup article gives no troubleshooting steps. It sends anyone with 2FA problems to its support request form. Before you open a ticket, check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Also make sure you're reading the FACEIT entry and not another account's code. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
New phone or lost authenticator
FACEIT documents one route, written for people who replaced their phone and can't sign in anymore: its Support team removes 2FA from your account, and you add it again from the new device (FACEIT). Open a request through the support form and include:
- your FACEIT account name
- the email address on the account
- the first and last name on the account
- your date of birth
- your phone number
- your Steam ID 64, which begins with 76
FACEIT doesn't say how long Support takes. Once 2FA is off, FACEIT asks you to turn it back on, so repeat the setup steps above with your new phone.
FACEIT doesn't document a way to switch phones yourself. If you're upgrading and have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restore it on the new iPhone and your FACEIT codes keep working, with no need for Support. Without one, keep the old iPhone and its FACEIT entry until Support has removed 2FA and you've set it up on the new one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone and Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
FACEIT's article on disabling 2FA covers only the Support route above. Its help doesn't describe a button to turn 2FA off yourself in account settings (FACEIT).
