Findmyshift 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Findmyshift is an online staff scheduling tool: managers build the rota there, and employees sign in to check their shifts, request time off and clock in. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional. Once it's on, Findmyshift asks for a code from your phone on top of your password when you open the site (Findmyshift). Its help names Google Authenticator, but the setup is a standard barcode scan, so other authenticator apps should work too. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone.
The detail to plan for is the backup. Findmyshift doesn't describe a list of recovery codes. It gives you a single emergency authentication code during setup, and that code is your way back in if the phone is gone.
How we checked this guide: the Findmyshift steps come from Findmyshift's own help pages, linked below, which we read on October 24, 2026. The pages show no date. We haven't tested them on a Findmyshift account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Findmyshift's help gives these steps (Findmyshift):
- Sign in to Findmyshift and click your name in the top menu. This works from any page and opens your account page.
- At the bottom of the account page, click Two-factor authentication.
- Findmyshift shows a barcode (a QR code). In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If the barcode is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Type the code that Novaz now shows for Findmyshift into the page.
- Write down the emergency authentication code that Findmyshift gives you.
Findmyshift's help only describes scanning. It doesn't say whether the page also shows a text key you could type, or how many digits its codes have. Scanning is the safer route anyway, because the barcode carries the code settings to your app. If you do find a key and type it with Enter key manually, Novaz makes 6-digit codes every 30 seconds. See What is a 2FA setup key?
Keep the emergency code safe
Findmyshift's help says you get this code when you set up 2FA. It doesn't say you can view it again later. Store it in a password manager or on paper, away from your phone. If you haven't made a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, its keys exist only on your iPhone, and this code is Findmyshift's only documented way back in. More in 2FA backup codes.
If Findmyshift rejects your code
Findmyshift's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Turning 2FA off
The switch is on the same screen (Findmyshift):
- Click your name in the top menu.
- Click Two-factor authentication at the bottom of the account page.
- Click Disable two-factor authentication.
Changing phones
Findmyshift doesn't describe a way to move 2FA to a new phone. The documented route is to turn 2FA off while you still have the old phone, then set it up again with the new one. Do this before you reset or hand in the old one. If you back up Novaz with iCloud backup or a backup file, you can instead restore your accounts on the new iPhone and keep the same codes. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Findmyshift's help says you can switch off two-factor authentication with the emergency authentication code from setup, even without your phone. If you don't have that code either and can't get into your account, it says to contact support (Findmyshift).
The contact page lists live chat or WhatsApp, email and phone numbers for several countries, and says the team aims to answer within 24 hours. Findmyshift doesn't say what proof it asks for before removing 2FA. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
