GrowingIO is a Chinese analytics platform for businesses, now sold as GrowingIO 分析云 (its "analysis cloud"), used for user behavior analysis, customer data and marketing automation (GrowingIO). You sign in to the hosted version with a username and a password (GrowingIO).

On top of the password, GrowingIO offers what it calls 二次验证, "second verification": a code from an authenticator app on your phone, with one-time backup codes for when the phone isn't with you (GrowingIO). It's optional in the help pages we read. The interface and the help pages are in Chinese, so this guide gives each label in Chinese with an English translation. We use Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the GrowingIO steps come from GrowingIO's own help pages in Chinese, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. Its older help site includes a screenshot of the settings page, which we used for the button labels. We haven't tested them on a GrowingIO account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Two help sites, one setting

GrowingIO has two sets of help pages. The older one, at docs.growingio.com, has the full steps and a screenshot from April 2020. The newer help center for the current platform, last changed in November 2024, only says where the setting lives: open your avatar in the top navigation, then 个人中心 (Personal Center), then 安全设置 (Security Settings). There you can bind or change your phone number, email and MFA, and turn on second verification (GrowingIO).

The steps below combine the two. If your screen looks different, go by what you see.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

  1. Sign in to GrowingIO, select your avatar at the top right, and open 个人中心 (Personal Center).
  2. Go to 安全设置 (Security Settings).
  3. In the second-verification section, select 开启 (Turn on). GrowingIO's older FAQ describes the same thing from the round red avatar icon in the top right corner (GrowingIO).
  4. Follow the prompts. GrowingIO's page names Authenticator and Authy as examples of the phone app to use (GrowingIO). Novaz works too.
  5. GrowingIO's pages don't show the setup screen itself. If it shows a QR code, open Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. If GrowingIO asks for a code to finish, type the one Novaz shows.

Once it's on, the section reads 您已经开启二次验证 ("You have turned on second verification").

GrowingIO's pages don't mention a text key you can type instead of scanning, and they don't say how many digits the codes have or how often they change. If a key is offered, you can add it with +, then Enter key manually (see What is a 2FA setup key?), but scanning is the safer choice: the QR code tells Novaz whatever code settings GrowingIO uses, while a typed key always gets 6 digits every 30 seconds.

Save the 10 backup codes

As soon as second verification is on, GrowingIO creates 10 random backup codes. You can download them, each one works a single time, and they're meant for the moments your phone isn't with you (GrowingIO).

To see them, select 查看备用验证码 (View backup codes). The FAQ says you'll enter your login account to get them, and that you'll need them again if you change phones (GrowingIO). On the codes screen, 刷新 (Refresh) makes a new set.

Novaz's keys are only on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, so keep these codes too. Store them away from the phone. More in 2FA backup codes.

When GrowingIO asks for a code

After you enter your password, GrowingIO checks the second factor before you can go on, and the help page says you'll need it whenever you sign in again (GrowingIO). The pages don't mention trusted devices or a "remember this computer" option.

If GrowingIO rejects your code

GrowingIO's help doesn't cover wrong codes. The most common cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

GrowingIO's FAQ only says the backup codes are what you'll need when you switch phones. With Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you restore your accounts on the new iPhone and GrowingIO's codes carry over. Without one, you'll set GrowingIO up again on the new one. A clean way, while you can still sign in: select 停用 (Turn off), confirm with your password, then turn it on again and scan the new QR code with the new phone (GrowingIO). GrowingIO doesn't describe this as its phone-change method, so keep your backup codes nearby. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Sign in with one of your backup codes, then turn second verification off and on again with a phone you have.

Without the codes, GrowingIO's pages don't describe a way back in, what proof it asks for, or how long a reset takes. The FAQ invites you to contact GrowingIO with questions about second verification (GrowingIO). If your company's account has a GrowingIO technical consultant, a role GrowingIO lists for helping customers fix problems, that's a likely first contact (GrowingIO). Your company's GrowingIO admin may also be able to help. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

In 安全设置 (Security Settings), select 停用 (Turn off) and enter your login password (GrowingIO). Then open GrowingIO in Novaz and tap Remove account.
