Lnk.Bio 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Lnk.Bio is the link-in-bio page many creators put in their Instagram or TikTok profile. Anyone who gets into your Lnk.Bio account can change where those links point, so it's worth protecting. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional, and the only method Lnk.Bio describes is a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone (Lnk.Bio).
The part to plan for before you turn it on: Lnk.Bio doesn't hand out recovery codes. If you lose the app, you get back in by messaging Lnk.Bio from the social media account you connected (Lnk.Bio). The steps below use Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Lnk.Bio steps come from Lnk.Bio's own help center, including the screenshots in its setup article, linked below. The help center blocked automated reading, so we read the three articles in archived copies on web.archive.org, saved between May and October 2025, on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested the steps on a Lnk.Bio account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Before you start
Check which social account is the main one connected to your Lnk.Bio account, such as Instagram, TikTok or Twitter, and make sure you can still sign in to it and send direct messages from it. That account is your way back in if your phone goes missing (Lnk.Bio).
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Lnk.Bio's setup article describes these steps (Lnk.Bio):
- Open the menu in your Lnk.Bio account and go to Settings.
- About halfway down the page, select the 2FA entry. Until you set it up, it says 2FA is NOT enabled.
- On the 2FA Setup screen, turn on the switch.
- Lnk.Bio shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If you're doing this on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- If you'd rather type a key, Lnk.Bio shows one under the QR code with a Copy button. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, fill in Service (for example, Lnk.Bio), and paste the key as the Setup key. In Lnk.Bio's screenshot the key is written in lowercase letters, which is fine. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Type the current code from Novaz into the 2FA code field and select Save.
On a phone, Lnk.Bio's setup screen also lets you tap the QR code to open your authenticator app directly. The help doesn't say whether this works with every app, so scanning or copying the key is the dependable route.
Signing in afterwards
Once 2FA is on, Lnk.Bio asks for the 6-digit code each time you log in (Lnk.Bio). Its help doesn't mention trusted devices or a "remember me" option for skipping the code.
No recovery codes
Lnk.Bio is clear that it doesn't use recovery codes. Many services give you a list of one-time codes to print or save; Lnk.Bio relies on your connected social account instead (Lnk.Bio). With Novaz this matters too: unless you turn on iCloud backup or export a backup file, Novaz keeps its keys only on your iPhone, and your social account is Lnk.Bio's only fallback. More on how other services handle this in 2FA backup codes.
Lnk.Bio's help also warns you not to delete your authenticator app after turning on 2FA, or you'll be locked out (Lnk.Bio). Keep that in mind before you clear apps off your phone.
If Lnk.Bio rejects your code
Lnk.Bio's help pages don't cover rejected codes. The most common cause is a phone clock that's slightly off. On iPhone, open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz shows a warning when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. For other causes, see Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
Lnk.Bio's help doesn't describe moving 2FA to a new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone. Otherwise, keep the old phone working until you've sorted out the new one, and if you can't redo the setup while signed in, Lnk.Bio's recovery route below is what's documented. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Without recovery codes, the route is Lnk.Bio support (Lnk.Bio):
- Start the process by opening the support chat or emailing support@lnk.bio.
- Lnk.Bio asks for a direct message from the main social media account connected to your Lnk.Bio account, such as Instagram, TikTok or Twitter.
- Once that message confirms it's you, Lnk.Bio turns off 2FA on your account.
Lnk.Bio doesn't say how long this takes, or what happens if you no longer have access to the connected social account. After you're back in, set 2FA up again with your new phone. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
Lnk.Bio's help doesn't describe turning 2FA off yourself. The only documented way is the support route above.
