Your MailerLite account holds your subscriber lists and can send email in your name. MailerLite's security advice lists two-factor authentication (2FA) first among its best practices, and warns that an account hijacked to send phishing can be suspended (MailerLite).

There's one 2FA method: a code from an authenticator app, typed after your password. The help names Google Authenticator, Authy and Duo Security as examples, but says "any authenticator app" works (MailerLite). It doesn't mention text-message codes. 2FA is optional unless an admin of your MailerLite account makes it mandatory (see below). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the MailerLite steps come from MailerLite's own help center, including the screenshots in its articles, and one post on its official blog, all linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a MailerLite account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

These steps are for the current MailerLite. Legacy (Classic) users have a separate help center inside their account.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

The switch is on your personal profile page, not in the account settings (MailerLite):

  1. In the top right corner, click the arrow next to your profile name and choose My profile.
  2. Scroll down to Two-factor authentication and click Enable.
  3. A window with a QR code opens. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If MailerLite is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  4. Type the 6-digit code that Novaz shows and click Set up.
  5. Click Download recovery codes and put the file somewhere safe.

An older-looking screenshot in the same article labels that button Enable 2FA, so the label may differ.

MailerLite's steps only cover scanning. Its screenshot has a blurred line of characters under the QR code that the help doesn't explain. If your window shows a key there and scanning fails, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz and type it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?

When an admin makes 2FA mandatory

An admin can require 2FA for every user of the account: Account settings, the Users tab, the Security tab, then turn the option ON (MailerLite). Each user must then set it up at their next sign-in, new users get it during profile setup, and non-admin users can't turn it off. Invited to an account like that? Install Novaz first.

Keep the 10 recovery codes

MailerLite gives you 10 recovery codes for signing in without your phone, and suggests saving them as a text file or printing them (MailerLite). Its screenshot shows the Download recovery codes link staying on your profile after setup.

With Novaz, those codes are your way back in if you lose the phone and haven't made a Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file). Store them away from the phone. More in 2FA backup codes.

Signing in afterwards

MailerLite's 2018 launch post says you're asked for the app code when you sign in (MailerLite). The current help doesn't mention trusted or remembered devices.

MailerLite also sends login verification emails from notifications@mailerlite.com (MailerLite). Those are separate from your 2FA code, which comes from Novaz.

If MailerLite rejects your code

MailerLite's sign-in help suggests two checks (MailerLite):

  • Look in the right app. If you've used more than one authenticator, the MailerLite entry may be in another one.
  • Make sure the phone sets its time automatically. On iPhone: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz also shows a warning when the clock is 15 seconds or more off.

If you lose your authenticator

Use a recovery code. MailerLite says that once you're back in with one, you can set up 2FA again from your profile (MailerLite).

The same page suggests reinstalling your authenticator app in case your accounts reappear. With Novaz, that helps only if you turned on iCloud backup: the empty Codes screen then offers Restore from iCloud. A backup file works too, through Settings › Backup › Import from file….

Resetting your password leaves 2FA on, MailerLite notes. Without recovery codes, fill in the Account access and login issues form on MailerLite's Contact us page and Support will help. MailerLite doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long it takes. Lost your login email too? Use the same form and give your old and new addresses.

Changing phones or turning 2FA off

MailerLite doesn't document moving 2FA to a new phone. Its screenshots show a Disable button under Two-factor authentication in My profile once 2FA is on, and the 2018 blog post says that's where you switch it on or off (MailerLite). So, while you still have the old phone, turn it off there and enable it again with the new one. MailerLite doesn't say whether disabling asks for a code.

If an admin enforces 2FA and you aren't an admin, you can't turn it off, and the help doesn't cover changing phones. Ask your admin or MailerLite Support before giving up the old phone.

If you restore Novaz on the new iPhone from an iCloud backup or backup file, MailerLite comes with it and you can skip this. Without one, you'll scan a new QR code on the new phone either way. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
