Neolo 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app for cPanel and the client area

Neolo is a web hosting and domain company, in business since 2002, with country sites across the Americas and Europe (Neolo). If you host a site with Neolo, you have two separate logins: the client area at c.neolo.com, where you pay invoices and manage services and domains, and cPanel, the control panel for your hosting account. Each one has its own two-factor authentication (2FA) setting, and turning on one doesn't protect the other.
Neolo's help is clearest about cPanel. Its article says you need an authenticator app on your phone, that any one you like will do, and that cPanel then asks for a code every time you sign in (Neolo). Neolo's client-area article shows where the switch is but doesn't say what kind of verification it uses. Neolo's help doesn't say that either one is required. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Neolo steps come from Neolo's own knowledge base, linked below, which we read on October 24, 2026. Most articles are in Spanish, with one English version of the client-area article, and none of them shows a date. We haven't tested the steps on a Neolo account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA for cPanel
Neolo's article describes these steps, with the labels of a Spanish cPanel (Neolo). If your cPanel is set to another language, the names will be translated.
- Sign in to your cPanel. Neolo's help lists the usual addresses, such as yourdomain.com/cpanel or yourdomain.com:2083 (Neolo).
- Open Autenticación de dos factores.
- Click Configurar Autenticación de dos Factores.
- Follow the steps cPanel shows you.
Neolo stops there, so the rest is the Novaz side. When cPanel shows a QR code, open Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen. If cPanel is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo (how that works). Then type the code Novaz shows into cPanel to finish.
Neolo's article doesn't mention a text key. If cPanel offers one and you can't scan, tap +, then Enter key manually, and fill in Service, Account (optional) and Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
From then on, cPanel asks for a code from your app each time you sign in, even after a correct username and password.
Turn on 2FA for the client area
Neolo gives this path for its client area (Neolo, Neolo):
- Sign in to your customer account at c.neolo.com.
- Click your name at the top right (Hello, YourName, or Hola, TuNombre in Spanish).
- Choose Security Settings (Ajustes de seguridad) in the list on the left.
- Under Two-Step Verification (Verificacion en dos pasos), click Tap here to enable (Pulse aquí para habilitar).
That's all the article says. It doesn't describe the screens that follow or name an authenticator app. If the next screen shows a QR code, add it to Novaz the same way as for cPanel. If it offers something Novaz can't do, such as a push prompt, Novaz won't help there.
No backup codes in Neolo's help
Neither article mentions backup or recovery codes. If a setup screen offers them, save them away from your phone. With Novaz they matter more than usual if you haven't made an iCloud backup or a backup file, since without one its keys exist only on your iPhone.
If a code is rejected
Neolo's help has no advice for rejected 2FA codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Don't keep retrying. Neolo says its servers can block your IP address after failed sign-in attempts, which makes the cPanel page stop loading for you. Its fix is to look up your IP at neolo.com/ip and open a ticket asking Neolo to unblock it (Neolo).
Changing phones or losing your authenticator
Neolo doesn't document how to move 2FA to a new phone, how to turn it off, or how to get back in without your app. With Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone. Without one, before you give up an old phone, sign in to cPanel and the client area and set 2FA up again with the new one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you're already locked out, Neolo's support tickets are the route. You can open one at www.neolo.com/es/ticket/ without signing in. Neolo doesn't say what proof it needs to reset 2FA. For a related problem, losing access to the email on your account, it asks for a legible copy of your ID and the domain or service on the account (Neolo). Expect something similar, and send the ticket from an email address you can still read. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
