Nutstore (坚果云, Jianguoyun) is a Chinese cloud drive for syncing and sharing files, sold to individuals and to teams. Its two-step sign-in is called 手机身份验证, roughly "phone identity verification". Once it's on, you type a one-time code after your password whenever you sign in to the website or the desktop client (Nutstore).

Nutstore offers three ways to get that code. Its help page names Google Authenticator for time-based codes, but any authenticator app that makes standard codes should work. The other two are codes sent through WeChat, and text messages, which only the premium team edition (高级团队版) gets (Nutstore). This guide covers the authenticator app, using Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

One thing to know before you start: if the authenticator app is your only second step, resetting your Nutstore password turns it off. More on that below.

How we checked this guide: the Nutstore steps come from Nutstore's own help center in Chinese, linked below, including the screenshots on its pages, which we read on October 21, 2026. The translations of the labels are ours. We haven't tested the steps on a Nutstore account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Nutstore's help page shows where the switch is, but its walkthrough follows the WeChat option and skips the authenticator screens (Nutstore).

  1. Sign in to Nutstore in a web browser at www.jianguoyun.com.
  2. Select your nickname or account name at the top right, and open 账户信息 (Account information). The same page's turn-off steps call it 账户设置 (Account settings).
  3. Go to the 安全选项 (Security options) tab. The 手机身份验证 section reads 已关闭 (Off).
  4. Select 开启认证 (Turn on verification). The help page doesn't show the screen that follows. If Nutstore offers a choice of method, pick Google Authenticator (Google身份验证器) rather than WeChat.
  5. If Nutstore shows a QR code, open Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. If Nutstore shows a text key instead, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz. Type "Nutstore" as the Service and paste the key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  7. Type the code Novaz shows if Nutstore asks for one to confirm.

Nutstore's pages don't say whether a text key is offered, how many digits the codes have, or how often they change. Scanning the QR code is the safer choice, since it carries those settings to Novaz. A typed key always gives 6 digits every 30 seconds.

When Nutstore asks for the code

Nutstore asks for it each time you sign in, not each time you open the app (Nutstore). The help page says the check applies before you get into the website and the desktop client. It doesn't mention trusted devices or a way to skip the code on a familiar computer.

Teams can make it mandatory

A team admin can require every member to use it. In the team admin area (管理团队, Manage team), open 团队信息 (Team information), find 手机身份验证, and under 强制启动 (Force on) tick the box that forces all members to turn it on. Then save (Nutstore). Members of a team with this setting can't turn the feature off themselves.

No backup codes, and a password reset turns it off

Nutstore's help pages don't mention backup or recovery codes. What they describe instead is unusual: resetting your password removes the Google Authenticator check, as long as you haven't also turned on WeChat or text-message codes. If either of those is on, a reset leaves the second step in place, which Nutstore says is meant to protect you if someone gets into your email (Nutstore, Nutstore).

It's an easy way back in if you delete the authenticator, but it also means anyone who can read your email could get past it. Guard that email address as carefully as the account.

If Nutstore rejects your code

Nutstore's troubleshooting page lists a binding that didn't complete and network delays among the reasons a second-step code fails (Nutstore). If you never finished step 7, set it up again. Otherwise, check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. If you lose your authenticator

Nutstore documents three routes:

  • You deleted the authenticator app: reset your password from the sign-in page. With no WeChat or text-message check on, the authenticator is switched off. Sign in, then set it up again (Nutstore).
  • You lost your phone: email support@cn.nutstore.net from the email address registered on your Nutstore account. Include that address, your nickname, your phone number, and the Nutstore apps you usually use. If the details match Nutstore's records, support turns off the check, and you can decide whether to turn it on again after you sign in (Nutstore). Nutstore doesn't say how long this takes.
  • You're on a team with text-message codes: your team admin can turn the check off in the admin area. An admin who is locked out contacts their account manager (Nutstore).

Changing phones

Nutstore doesn't describe moving the authenticator to a new phone. While you can still sign in, the simplest way is to turn the check off on the 安全选项 tab and turn it on again with the new phone. With a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore Nutstore on the new iPhone instead; without one, a new iPhone means adding Nutstore again. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

Turning 2FA off

Sign in on the web, select your nickname, go to the 安全选项 tab, and select 关闭认证 (Turn off verification). Nutstore asks you to verify once more before it switches off. Its screenshots show that step for WeChat, and don't show it for the authenticator (Nutstore). If your team admin has made it mandatory, you can't turn it off. Then open Novaz, open the Nutstore account, and tap Remove account.
