One Schneider Electric account signs you in to several Schneider tools, such as the mySchneider partner portal and SmartConnect for APC Smart-UPS units. Schneider calls two-factor authentication MFA, and it's turning it from an option into a requirement. You can pick a text message, an authenticator app, push approvals in the Auth0 Guardian app, or fingerprint or face recognition (Schneider Electric). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone for the authenticator option. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Schneider Electric steps come from Schneider Electric's FAQ pages on se.com and from an MFA FAQ in the Schneider Electric Community that Schneider staff wrote and keep up to date. All are linked below, and we read them, screenshots included, on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Schneider Electric account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Is it required?

For SmartConnect, yes. Schneider's FAQ from July 2026 says MFA can't be switched off for good: remove it and you're asked to set it up again at your next sign-in (Schneider Electric). So the Turn Off button in Schneider's screenshot of the Two-Factor Authentication page only lasts until then (Schneider Electric). The staff FAQ says Schneider is adding MFA to every customer-facing app that handles confidential or sensitive data, and that you'll need a code on new or untrusted devices (Schneider Electric). The mySchneider FAQ, last updated in January 2026, still describes it as a setting you can choose to turn on (Schneider Electric).

Set it up when Schneider asks at sign-in

If your account has no MFA yet, Schneider asks you to choose a method right after you sign in (Schneider Electric):

  1. Sign in with your username and password. The Keep Your Account Safe page opens.
  2. Choose Google Authenticator or similar. Skip Notification via Auth0 Guardian app: that one uses push approvals, and Novaz only makes time-based codes.
  3. On Secure Your Account, Schneider shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  4. Type the code from Novaz into Enter your one-time code and select Continue.
  5. Schneider shows a recovery code. Copy it, tick I have safely recorded this code, and select Continue.

A Trouble Scanning? link sits under the QR code in Schneider's screenshot; the FAQ doesn't say what it shows. If it gives you a text key, tap + in Novaz, then Enter key manually, and paste it into Setup key (see What is a 2FA setup key?). Scanning is better: Schneider doesn't publish its code length or interval, and the QR code passes those settings to Novaz.

Add or change it from your profile

Select Profile in the top right corner, then Two-Factor Authentication, and enter your password (Schneider Electric). A screenshot in Schneider's EcoStruxure Transformer Expert FAQ shows Authenticator Application under Other Methods on that page, but no page walks through the screens after it (Schneider Electric). In mySchneider, the way in is the arrow next to your name, then Profile. That FAQ names the tab Personal Data, while its screenshot shows Personal Information (Schneider Electric).

One recovery code at a time

Schneider gives you a single recovery code, not a list. It works once, and after you use it Schneider asks you to save a new one. If you think someone has seen it, revoke it and make a new one in your profile settings (Schneider Electric).

If the phone is gone and you have no Novaz backup, this code is your way back in. A screenshot of it on the same iPhone is lost with the phone, so keep a copy in a password manager or on paper. More in 2FA backup codes.

If Schneider Electric rejects your code

Schneider's pages don't cover this. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. With several methods set up, check that the prompt wants the authenticator code. See Authenticator code not working?

Moving to a new iPhone

If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone and keep the same codes. Otherwise, Schneider lets you change your MFA method from your profile at any time (Schneider Electric), so do it while you still have the old phone: open Two-Factor Authentication and set up the authenticator again with Novaz on the new one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

At the code prompt, select Try another method, choose Recovery code, enter it and select Continue. Save the new code Schneider shows you, then set up a new authenticator from My Profile (Schneider Electric).

In Schneider's EcoStruxure Transformer Expert FAQ, the Try another method list also offers SMS and Email, and the page says your registered email address can stand in for a lost device. It's also the only Schneider page that describes a full reset: email the identity support team at Secure_Identity-L2@schneider-electric.com from the address on your account. Once they've confirmed it's you, they reset MFA, and you pick a new method at your next sign-in (Schneider Electric). That page is written for Transformer Expert users and gives no timeframe. For mySchneider sign-in problems, use Need Help? at the bottom of the login page to reach a contact form (Schneider Electric).
