Swyftx 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5

Swyftx is a crypto exchange, and your Swyftx account holds your balances, deposits and withdrawals. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional, but Swyftx's account setup article strongly encourages it (Swyftx). It uses a time-based authenticator app, backed by one recovery code and SMS to your registered number for resets (Swyftx). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Swyftx steps come from Swyftx's own support center, linked below, which we read on October 22, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Swyftx account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Install the app before you start
Swyftx asks you to have the authenticator app installed and ready before you flip the switch. Its help warns that starting the setup without one can lock you out of your account for a while (Swyftx).
Turn on 2FA on the web
The web platform is the easier route on an iPhone, because it shows a QR code (Swyftx):
- Sign in to the Swyftx web platform. Select your circled initial in the top right corner, then Account settings.
- Select Security, then the switch next to Login with two factor authentication (2FA).
- Select Continue 2FA setup.
- In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code on screen.
- If you'd rather type it, Swyftx also shows a secret key. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, type Swyftx as the Service and paste or type the key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Enter the 6-digit code from Novaz on the Enable two-factor authentication screen.
- Save the recovery code Swyftx shows you. Check I have safely recorded this code, then select Finish.
Swyftx then signs you out, and you sign back in with a code from Novaz.
Turn on 2FA in the Swyftx app
If you only use the Swyftx mobile app, the steps are similar, but the app gives you a key to copy rather than a QR code (Swyftx):
- Tap the three lines in the top left corner to open the side menu.
- Tap Profile, then Security and passwords.
- Tap the switch next to Two factor (2FA), then Continue 2FA setup.
- Copy the secret key.
- In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and paste the key into Setup key.
- Back in the Swyftx app, enter the 6-digit code that Novaz now shows.
- Save the recovery code, check I have safely recorded this code, and tap Continue.
Swyftx doesn't say how often its codes change. A typed key gives 6-digit codes every 30 seconds in Novaz; if Swyftx rejects them, use the web QR code instead.
Your recovery code
Swyftx gives you one recovery code at setup and says you'll need it if you lose or reset your phone. When you sign in with it, Swyftx gives you a new one, so write the new one down too (Swyftx).
Unless you've backed up Novaz with iCloud backup or a backup file, its keys exist only on your iPhone, so that recovery code is your way back in. Keep it in a password manager or on paper, away from your phone. More in 2FA backup codes.
If Swyftx rejects your code
Swyftx's own advice is that a wrong time on your device is the likely cause. On iPhone, it says to go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically, or turn it off for a few seconds and back on if it was already on (Swyftx). Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones or numbers
Swyftx lists three times you need to reset 2FA: a lost or replaced device, a new phone number, or a setup you started and didn't finish (Swyftx).
While you can still sign in, the reset is two steps. Turn 2FA off in the same place you turned it on: on the web, use the Login with two factor authentication (2FA) switch, then Yes, disable 2FA. In the app, use the Two factor (2FA) switch, then Disable 2FA, and select Continue after the code. Either way, Swyftx texts a verification code to your registered phone number. Then turn the switch back on and set up the new phone.
For a new iPhone, a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file lets you restore your accounts there instead, with the same codes. Without one, do this before wiping the old phone. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Swyftx documents three routes, depending on what you still have (Swyftx):
- You have the recovery code: sign in with your email and password, select Use recovery code when asked for the 2FA code, and enter it. You get a new recovery code.
- You still have your registered phone number: on the Log in screen, select Lost Authenticator and enter the PIN Swyftx texts you. That removes the old authenticator, and you can set up a new one.
- You have neither: contact Swyftx through live chat to set up 2FA on a new device.
Swyftx doesn't say what proof live chat asks for or how long it takes. Keep your phone number current, since Swyftx uses it for SMS checks (Swyftx). More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
