THE ICONIC 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app

Your THE ICONIC account holds your orders, saved items and shipping details for the online fashion store. Its multi-factor authentication (MFA) is unusual in two ways. THE ICONIC mostly decides when you need it: you're asked to set it up when you change your account's email address, or when its system flags a sign-in as risky. And once you're enrolled, you can't switch it off (THE ICONIC).
You can protect the account with a code sent by text message, or with "an authenticator app of your choice" (THE ICONIC). This guide covers the app option with Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the steps for THE ICONIC come from its own help center and its Online Security Advice page, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on an account with THE ICONIC. Its help doesn't name every button or screen, so what you see may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
THE ICONIC's Online Security Advice page points to its MFA article for instructions (THE ICONIC), but that article doesn't walk through the screens.
- Sign in on the website. Select the icon with your initials in the top right corner, then Account (THE ICONIC).
- Open your account security settings, where THE ICONIC says you add and manage MFA methods. It doesn't give the exact name of the page or button. If you've been prompted after an email change or a flagged sign-in, the setup starts by itself instead.
- If you're asked for a one-time code sent to your email, enter it. Check junk or spam if it doesn't arrive. An unverified account gets verified along the way (THE ICONIC).
- Pick the authenticator app method. If you see a QR code, open Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. Setting up in THE ICONIC app on the same iPhone? Take a screenshot, then use + and Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- If you're shown a text key instead, tap +, then Enter key manually. Type THE ICONIC as the Service, add your email under Account if you like, and paste the key into Setup key.
- Type the current code from Novaz to finish.
THE ICONIC's help doesn't say how long its codes are or how often they change. Scan the QR code when you can: it passes those settings to Novaz, while a key typed by hand always gets 6 digits every 30 seconds. More in What is a 2FA setup key?
When you'll be asked for a code
By default, THE ICONIC uses what it calls Adaptive MFA: it weighs your location, device and login history, and only asks for a code when something seems off. To be asked every time, you can switch to Mandatory MFA in the account security settings (THE ICONIC). The help doesn't say whether you can switch back.
Signing in with Google or Apple doesn't get around it. If you link either to an account that has MFA, you still get the MFA prompt at sign-in (THE ICONIC, THE ICONIC).
No backup codes: add a second method
THE ICONIC's help doesn't mention backup codes. Instead, you can add more than one MFA method in your account settings, and remove any of them as long as one is left (THE ICONIC). Unless you back up Novaz with iCloud backup or a backup file, its keys exist only on that iPhone, so add your mobile number for text-message codes as well. The trade-offs are in Authenticator app vs SMS.
If THE ICONIC rejects your code
THE ICONIC's help only covers text codes that don't arrive: send a new one, and contact Customer Service if that fails too. It says nothing about authenticator codes. Check that you're on the app-code step and not the email-code step, then check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
THE ICONIC's help doesn't cover moving the authenticator to a new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restoring it on the new iPhone brings your codes along (How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone). Without one, go by the rules THE ICONIC does give: keep another method such as text messages active, remove the old authenticator method, and add it again with Novaz on the new iPhone. Do this before you wipe the old phone.
If you lose your authenticator
If you added a second method, sign in with it and replace the lost one. If not, contact Customer Service, which can disable the lost phone as an MFA method so you can set up a new one (THE ICONIC). Its help doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long this takes. THE ICONIC asks you not to send passwords, verification codes or full card numbers when you write in (THE ICONIC).

Turning 2FA off
You can't: MFA stays on once you've enrolled, and you can only remove methods down to one. To stop using Novaz for it, add another method first, remove the authenticator method in THE ICONIC, then open the entry in Novaz and tap Remove account.
