Transifex is the localization platform where translators and product teams work on translation projects. Its two-factor authentication (2FA) has a single method: a code from an authenticator app, typed after your username and password (Transifex). Its help mentions no text-message option. 2FA is optional, but an organization on the Enterprise Plus plan or higher can require it of every member.

This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Transifex steps come from Transifex's own help center and blog, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Transifex account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

The switch sits at the very bottom of your user settings page (Transifex):

  1. In Transifex, open the profile or organization icon in the main menu and choose My profile, then open your user settings. Transifex's help pages word this menu differently, so yours may vary.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and click Enable Two Factor Authentication. (The 2023 launch post spells it with a hyphen (Transifex).)
  3. Transifex shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code,. If Transifex is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  4. Can't scan it? Choose Can't scan the code? under the QR code to get a text key. In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and put it in Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  5. Click next, type the 6-digit code that Novaz shows, and click next again. On this step you can tick Remember this computer for 30 days.
  6. Transifex generates 10 recovery codes. Print or download them before you leave the page.

Transifex's help doesn't say how many digits its codes have or how often they change. Scan the QR code if you can: it carries those settings, while a typed key in Novaz always gives 6-digit codes every 30 seconds.

Your 10 recovery codes

Transifex says the recovery codes are for when you lose access to your phone (Transifex). Keep them even if you use Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, in case the phone goes and your backup is missing or out of date. Store them away from the phone.

To get a fresh set, go to your user settings, find the Two-Factor Authentication section, click View backup codes, then Generate new codes, and save them. The help doesn't say whether the old set stops working, so keep only the newest list. More in 2FA backup codes.

When Transifex asks for a code

You type a code when you sign in with your username and password. The Remember this computer for 30 days box, by its name, cuts down prompts on your own computer. A Transifex session also lasts 30 days and renews while you keep working; after 30 idle days you're signed out (Transifex).

With both single sign-on (SSO) and 2FA on, only one of them is used at sign-in (Transifex). SSO goes through your company's own sign-in page (Transifex). The help doesn't cover 2FA with Google, GitHub or other social sign-in.

If your organization enforces 2FA

Organization admins on Enterprise Plus and up can turn on Enforce Two-Factor Authentication for all members under 2FA Settings in the organization settings. The admin needs 2FA on their own account first. Members without it get a pop-up asking them to turn it on, while signed in or when joining the organization (Transifex).

If Transifex rejects your code

Transifex's help has no advice for rejected codes. Most often the iPhone's clock has drifted: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when your clock is 15 seconds or more off. For other causes, see Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Transifex doesn't describe moving 2FA to a new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead. Without one, use what's documented, turning 2FA off and on: while you still have the old phone, disable it, enable it again, and scan the new QR code with the new iPhone. Save the new recovery codes. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Sign in with one of your recovery codes, then set up 2FA again on your new phone. Transifex's help doesn't cover having no codes left: no recovery form, list of proof, or timeline. The general route is Contact Support on Transifex's contact page, which asks for your username and organization name, in English. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

In your user settings, scroll to the bottom and click Disable Two Factor Authentication. Confirm with Disable in the window that opens (Transifex). If your organization enforces 2FA, expect to be asked to turn it back on. Then, in Novaz, open the Transifex entry and tap Remove account.
