Versio is a Dutch web host and domain registrar. Mijn Versio, its customer area, is where you manage your domains, hosting, email and invoices. You sign in with your email address and password, and you can add two-factor authentication (2FA) with an authenticator app (Versio). It's optional. Versio's help pages describe no other second-step method and no backup codes, so plan your recovery before you switch it on.

This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way: Versio's own page suggests Google Authenticator only as one well-known option.

How we checked this guide: the Versio steps come from Versio's own knowledge base, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. Versio writes these pages in Dutch, so we show the labels in Dutch, as they appear in Mijn Versio. We haven't tested the steps on a Versio account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Which customer area this covers

Versio's knowledge base has one page for several of its brands, and each has its own customer area with its own 2FA steps: Versio, Neostrada, PCextreme and Flexwebhosting (Versio). This guide covers Mijn Versio, which you sign in to at login.mijn.versio.nl (Versio). If you're a customer of one of the other brands, pick that brand on Versio's page instead.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Versio's page, last updated November 24, 2025, gives four short steps (Versio):

  1. Sign in to Mijn Versio at login.mijn.versio.nl with your email address and password, then select Indienen (Versio).
  2. Go to Beveiliging (Security).
  3. Set Twee Factor Authenticatie to Aan (On).
  4. Mijn Versio shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the code is on the screen of the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap +, then Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.

Versio's page ends there. It doesn't mention a text key to type instead of scanning, and it doesn't say whether Mijn Versio asks for a first code to confirm the setup. If it does, type the code Novaz shows.

Scan the code rather than typing a key

Versio's page says its codes change every minute. Most services change them every 30 seconds, and a key typed into Novaz by hand always gets 30 seconds. A QR code carries the right timing, so scan it. After you add Versio, tap the account in Novaz and check Interval under Details. If Mijn Versio does show a key and you have to type it, use +, then Enter key manually; see What is a 2FA setup key?

Signing in afterwards

Once 2FA is on, Mijn Versio asks for a code from your app when you sign in (Versio). Versio's pages don't mention trusted devices or a way to skip the code on a computer you use often.

New customers also get an email with an activation code before they can sign in for the first time (Versio). That's a one-time step, not part of 2FA.

No backup codes

Versio's current knowledge base doesn't mention backup or recovery codes, or a second method to fall back on. A customer pointed this out under Versio's 2015 announcement of the feature, which we read in an archived copy on web.archive.org. A Versio staff member replied that you can write down the code shown when you turn 2FA on and add it to another device later (Versio). That reply is about the customer panel of the time, and today's page doesn't repeat it. So unless you can restore a Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file), plan on the helpdesk route below being your only way back in if you lose your phone.

If Versio rejects your code

Versio's pages don't cover rejected codes. First check the interval, as above: if Novaz shows 30 seconds and Versio uses 60, remove the account in Novaz (Remove account) and add it again by scanning the QR code. Then check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Versio doesn't describe a way to move 2FA to a new phone. In Novaz, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone from iCloud backup or a backup file. Without one, keep the old phone working until you've set Versio up on the new one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Without backup codes, recovery goes through Versio's helpdesk. Its staff turn 2FA off for your account once you've proved who you are with an ID document. Business customers also need an extract from the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) or other proof that they act for the company (Versio).

The help page links to Versio's contact page, which lists phone and email support (support@versio.nl) on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:00. Versio doesn't say how long the check takes. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

Versio's page doesn't describe turning 2FA off in Mijn Versio.
