Wix 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app for your Wix account

Your Wix account is the login behind your sites and their dashboards. Wix calls two-factor authentication "2-step verification", and it's optional, though Wix recommends it, especially if you may have typed your password into a phishing site (Wix).
You can turn on several methods at once: the Wix app, text messages, an authenticator app and email. They only apply to email-and-password logins; a social login such as Google or Facebook doesn't ask for a code (Wix). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Wix steps come from Wix's own Help Center articles, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. Some screen names come from screenshots in those articles, a few of them from 2022. We haven't tested the steps on a Wix account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Wix suggests adding a recovery phone number first (Wix). It's under Login Info in Account Settings (Wix). Then, on a computer (Wix):
- Go to Account Settings in your Wix account and scroll down to 2-step verification.
- Click Enable next to Verify logins with an authenticator app, then enter your Wix password.
- The Scan QR code with an authenticator app window opens. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the screen.
- If you can't scan it, use the key under the QR code, which Wix calls a code (there's a Copy Code button). In Novaz, tap +, then Enter key manually, and type it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
- Click Next.
- In Enter the 6-digit code from your app, type the code from Novaz and click Submit.
Wix's screenshot shows the key as 16 characters in groups joined by dashes. If yours looks like that, leave the dashes out. Scanning is still safer, because the QR code carries the code settings.
In the Wix app, open a site and tap your profile, then Manage Account Settings, 2-Step Verification and Authenticator App (Wix). If the QR code shows on the iPhone that has Novaz, screenshot it and use +, then Choose a photo (how).
Wix warns that deleting the Wix entry from your authenticator app stops this method working (Wix), so don't tap Remove account on it in Novaz while 2-step verification is on.
Signing in afterwards
- After your password, Wix shows Enter Your Code. Type the code from Novaz under Enter code here and click Verify (Wix).
- Remember this device for 30 days is ticked by default. Untick it to verify every time (Wix).
- With several methods on, Wix prompts for the Wix app first, then the authenticator app, then SMS, then email (Wix). Click Verify Another Way to switch (Wix).
Recovery codes and a second method
Wix's sign-in help lists Recovery Code as a way to verify, with codes you saved earlier (Wix), but doesn't say where you get them. If Wix gives you some, keep them away from your phone. They're your way in if the phone is lost and you have no Novaz backup to restore. See 2FA backup codes.
A second method, such as SMS or the Wix app, also helps. Email verification only works with common providers like Gmail, Outlook and Hotmail (Wix).
If Wix rejects your code
Wix's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when your clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?
Changing phones
In Account Settings, under 2-step verification, click Reset App and follow the steps to connect the new phone (Wix). Do it while you can still sign in. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore it on the new iPhone instead; without one, you add Wix again on the new one. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
- On the code screen, click Verify Another Way and use another method you set up: the Wix app, SMS, a phone call, WhatsApp, email, a passkey or a recovery code (Wix).
- If none works, click Continue to Recover Account on the previous screen, or open the Account Recovery form at users.wix.com/new-account-recovery. Select I can't complete 2-step verification, enter your email address and say whether you own the account.
- Once you've verified your identity, Wix removes 2-step verification and you log in with your email and password (Wix).
The troubleshooting page doesn't say what proof Wix wants. Its general recovery on the same form asks for a photo of a government-issued ID and a selfie, checked by a third-party partner. Wix says you then get in right away, or in some cases through a Customer Care ticket answered by email (Wix). SSO accounts recover through their IT administrator.

Turning it off
In Account Settings, under 2-step verification, click the Enabled dropdown next to the authenticator app, then Disable (Wix). With every method off, only your password protects the account.
