Active24 is a Czech domain and web hosting provider, and WebAdmin is where you manage its domains, hosting, email and invoices. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional. You can pick one of four methods: an authenticator app (TOTP), a biometric or hardware key, SMS, or email (Active24). The unusual part comes later: if you lose your second factor without backup codes, getting back in takes a signed paper or data-box form. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Active24 steps come from Active24's own help center, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. The pages are in Czech, so the labels below are Active24's Czech labels with our translation, taken from the text and the screenshots on its 2FA page. We haven't tested them on an Active24 account, so a label may differ slightly, especially if you use WebAdmin in another language. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Before you start: passwordless sign-in

WebAdmin also offers passwordless sign-in (Bezheslové přihlášení). The screenshot on Active24's 2FA page notes that you can't set up two-factor authentication while passwordless sign-in is on (Active24).

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Active24's page, last edited on September 11, 2026, gives these steps (Active24):

  1. Sign in to WebAdmin.
  2. Click your account name at the top right.
  3. In the menu, choose Zabezpečení a přihlášení (Security and sign-in).
  4. Go to the Dvoufaktorové ověření (Two-factor authentication) section and click Nastavení dvoufaktorového ověření (Set up two-factor authentication).
  5. Of the four options, choose Standardní TOTP.
  6. Follow the steps on screen to the end. Active24 warns that 2FA isn't active until you've confirmed a code.

An older copy of the same article on Active24's other site, active24.eu, fills in the middle of the flow: WebAdmin shows your backup codes first, then a QR code with a key you can type instead, and then asks for a code from your app (Active24). That copy dates from 2021 and describes an older menu, so the screens may look different now.

In Novaz:

  1. Tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code in WebAdmin. If WebAdmin is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  2. If you'd rather type the key, tap +, then Enter key manually, and paste it as the Setup key. Active24's pages don't say how many digits its codes have or how often they change, so scanning the QR code is the safer route. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  3. Type the current code from Novaz into WebAdmin. The older article says to do this promptly, since each code is only valid for a short time.

Keep the backup codes

When you choose TOTP, WebAdmin creates backup codes during the first setup, and Active24 asks you to store them safely. Each one works once, in place of a code from your app (Active24). If that phone is gone and you have no Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file), these codes are your way back in. Active24's pages don't say how many codes you get or whether you can make new ones. More in 2FA backup codes.

When Active24 asks for a code

The setup screen in Active24's screenshot says that once the app is paired, every sign-in needs your password plus a code from the app (Active24).

2FA also changes how support handles you. With it on, Active24 won't treat a call from your contact phone number as authorized. To change your services, use the chat inside WebAdmin or send an authorized request (Active24, Active24).

If Active24 rejects your code

Active24's pages don't cover rejected codes. Start with the iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

Active24's current help doesn't describe moving 2FA to a new phone or turning it off. In Novaz, if you turned on iCloud backup or saved a backup file, restore your accounts on the new iPhone and the codes keep working. Without one, you'll need to set Active24 up again in Novaz on the new phone. Do it while you can still sign in, and keep your backup codes at hand. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Sign in with one of your backup codes. Without them, Active24 has to confirm who you are another way, through its account recovery form, which you download from the 2FA page (Active24):

  • Fill in one domain from your account and a contact email (it can stay the same).
  • Mark ANO (yes) for turning off 2FA, then add your name and signature.
  • Send it from your own Czech data box (datová schránka) as a PDF to Active24's box, qdhi5vv. Sent this way, it doesn't need a certified signature.
  • Or print it, have the signature officially certified (for example at a notary or a Czech POINT office), and mail it to ACTIVE 24, s.r.o., Sokolovská 394/17, 186 00 Praha 8, Czech Republic.
  • For a company account, include an extract from the commercial register that shows who may act for the company.

Active24 won't accept the form sent any other way, and doesn't say how long the review takes. A similar form, sent the same way, is Active24's route when you've also lost access to the contact email and phone on the account (Active24). More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
