Caspio 2FA: how to set up an authenticator app for your Caspio ID
By the Novaz team · Updated October 29, 2026
Novaz steps checked against version 1.0.5
On this page
Your Caspio ID is the login for the Caspio low-code platform, where you build database apps, tables and DataPages. One Caspio ID, your email address, can reach several Caspio accounts (Caspio). Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional. Caspio offers two methods: an authentication app or text messages. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.
How we checked this guide: the Caspio steps come from Caspio's own Online Help, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Caspio account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.
Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app
Caspio's help describes these steps (Caspio):
- Sign in at id.caspio.com. On the right of the top bar, click your name, then Manage profile. This opens Your Caspio Profile.
- In the Security section, click Edit.
- In the TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION section, click TURN ON.
- Choose the authentication app method. Caspio then shows a QR code.
- In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the code. If you're on the iPhone itself, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
- Finish the steps Caspio shows on screen. If it asks for a code, type the current one from Novaz.
- Caspio then gives you a list of backup codes. Save it before you close the window.
Caspio's help tells you to "follow the instructions on the screen" and doesn't name the last few labels (Caspio). It also doesn't say whether a text key is offered next to the QR code. If you see one and want to type it, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz, and paste it as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
Signing in afterwards
Each sign-in now needs your Caspio ID, your password and a code from Novaz. If you tick Remember me, the next sign-in in that same browser needs only your credentials (Caspio). Caspio doesn't say how long a browser stays remembered.
Older bookmarks such as b4.caspio.com or pages.caspio.com no longer work. Caspio says to sign in at id.caspio.com, or through the Login button on its homepage (Caspio).
Backup codes
Each backup code works once, and Caspio means them for times when your phone isn't with you. When you're down to one or two, make a new list: in the Security section, click Edit, then GET NEW BACKUP CODES in the TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION section. Enter your Caspio ID password, click OK, save the new list and click Close (Caspio).
Without a Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file), its keys exist only on your iPhone, so these codes are your fallback. Keep them in a password manager or on paper, away from the phone. More in 2FA backup codes.
If Caspio rejects your code
Caspio's help doesn't cover a rejected authenticator code. Start with your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?
If Caspio shows a Too many failed logins error, it has locked the account for a while after repeated failed attempts. Its advice is to wait for the time shown in the message, then try again (Caspio).
Changing phones
Caspio has no separate "move" option. To change the method, or the phone it's on, you turn 2FA off and then on again (Caspio). Turning it off asks for your password, so do this while you can still sign in, before you wipe or hand in the old iPhone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore it on the new iPhone instead. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.
If you lose your authenticator
Sign in with a backup code, then turn 2FA off and on again with the new phone.
Without backup codes, Caspio's help doesn't describe a recovery process. The route left is Caspio Support, which takes tickets and live chat and answers the phone at +1 (650) 691-0900 (listed as available 24/5) (Caspio). Its help doesn't say what proof Support asks for or how long a 2FA reset takes. Note that the 9-digit Support PIN Caspio uses to confirm who you are on calls and chats is made from inside your account, under Help > Support PIN (Caspio). You can't make one once you're locked out, which is one more reason to keep those backup codes. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?
Turning 2FA off
In the Security section, click Edit, then TURN OFF in the TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION section. Enter your Caspio ID password and click OK. The status changes to Turned off (Caspio).
Signing in to an app built with Caspio
If a code prompt appears when you sign in to someone's Caspio-built app, that's a different login. The app's owner turns on 2FA for its directory of users, can make it required, and can reset it for a user who's lost their phone (Caspio, Caspio). Ask the app's owner for help in that case, not Caspio.
