Your DMM account (DMMアカウント) is the one sign-in for DMM.com, the Japanese site behind DMM TV, games, e-books, English conversation lessons and more (DMM). Two-step verification (2段階認証) is something you switch on yourself in your account settings. DMM gives you two ways to receive the second code: an authenticator app, or a code sent to the email address registered on your account (DMM).

DMM's help points to Google Authenticator and adds that on iOS 15 or later, Passwords in the Settings app can stand in (DMM, compared here). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way. DMM's help center is in Japanese, so labels below are copied from it, with our translation in parentheses.

How we checked this guide: the DMM steps come from DMM's own help center, in Japanese, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a DMM account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Finish setup within 30 minutes

The QR code and text key DMM shows during setup are valid for 30 minutes. Add an expired one to your app and the confirmation code will fail. DMM's fix is to delete that entry from the app and start the setup over (DMM). In Novaz, open the entry and tap Remove account.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

DMM describes this path (DMM):

  1. Sign in to DMM, ideally on a computer.
  2. Click the person icon at the top right of the site.
  3. Open DMMアカウント情報 (DMM account information).
  4. In the 登録情報 (registration details) menu, choose ログイン情報 (sign-in information).
  5. Under 2段階認証の設定 (two-step verification settings), press 編集 (edit).
  6. Next to 認証アプリ設定 (authenticator app setting), press 設定 (set up), then follow the screens DMM shows.
  7. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and aim the camera at DMM's QR code. If the QR code is on the iPhone you're holding, take a screenshot, then tap + and Choose a photo (how that works).
  8. When DMM asks for a code, type the 6-digit code Novaz shows.

DMM also offers a key for when the QR code won't scan, but its help doesn't name that option or say how long the key is (DMM). Its codes are 6 digits and change every 30 seconds (DMM), which matches what Novaz uses for a typed key. Tap +, then Enter key manually, and fill in Service, Account (optional) and Setup key. Novaz needs a key of at least 16 characters, so if it refuses DMM's key, use the QR code. See What is a 2FA setup key?

There are no backup codes

None of DMM's two-step verification pages mention backup or recovery codes. Its only precaution against a broken or lost phone is syncing Google Authenticator with a Google account in advance (DMM). Novaz's equivalent is turning on iCloud backup or exporting a backup file in advance. Without one, its keys stay only on your iPhone, and your safety net is DMM's support form, described below. The help doesn't say whether the email method can take over if you lose the app.

When DMM asks for a code

Every sign-in from DMM's login page asks for a code, unless you've told DMM to skip it on that device (DMM). To skip, tick このデバイスでは次回から2段階認証をスキップする (skip two-step verification on this device from next time) on the code screen. DMM then asks only for your password on that operating system and browser. Other devices still get the prompt. To undo it, press 解除する (remove) next to a device on the two-step verification settings screen, or まとめて解除する (remove all at once), and confirm (DMM).

ログインしたままにする (keep me signed in) on the sign-in page also skips the prompt: that browser then signs you in automatically, with no password or code (DMM).

If DMM rejects your code

DMM's help names two causes: at sign-in, an old code, so enter the one Novaz shows right now (DMM); during setup, an expired QR code or key (see above). If neither fits, check your iPhone's clock: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Moving to a new iPhone

Do this before you wipe the old phone. DMM's way is to sign in with the old device, remove the authenticator app setting, then set it up again on the new one (DMM). With Novaz, you can instead restore your accounts on the new iPhone from iCloud backup or a backup file; without one, follow DMM's steps. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

If the phone is lost or broken, or you deleted the app, DMM Support Center removes two-step verification for you. Ask through the form 2段階認証の設定を解除したい (I want to remove my two-step verification setting) (DMM, DMM).

The form asks for a reply email address and a description of your problem, and tells you not to include your full card number or security code (DMM). DMM doesn't say what proof it asks for or how long it takes. Once it's removed, sign in and set up the app again. More in Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

Follow the setup path to 2段階認証の設定 and press 編集. Press 解除 (remove) next to 認証アプリ設定, read the confirmation screen and confirm (DMM). Then open DMM in Novaz and tap Remove account.
