Feedly is the reader where you follow news sites, blogs and newsletters. Its two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional, and it comes with one condition: it only works on a Feedly login, where you sign in with an email address and a Feedly password (Feedly). If you sign in with Google, Apple or another outside account, there's nothing to switch on in Feedly for that login.

The only method Feedly describes is an authenticator app, backed by ten backup codes. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Feedly steps come from Feedly's own help center, including the screenshots in its articles, linked below, which we read on October 20, 2026. We haven't tested them on a Feedly account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Use a browser, and check your logins

The setting is on the Logins page of your account settings, and Feedly's help says that page is only in the web app (Feedly). Open Feedly in a browser rather than the phone app.

An account can have several logins on that page. If yours only has Google or Apple, select Add login and choose the Feedly option to give the account an email and password first. Feedly's help doesn't say whether your other logins also ask for the code. Their passwords are managed by the company behind them, not by Feedly (Feedly).

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

Feedly describes these steps (Feedly, Feedly):

  1. Select your profile picture at the bottom left of Feedly, then Settings, then Logins.
  2. Under Two-factor authentication, select ENABLE TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.
  3. In the Enable two-factor authentication window, pick your Feedly login from the Login menu, type its Password, and select NEXT.
  4. Feedly shows a QR code. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. If the QR code is on the same iPhone, take a screenshot, tap + and use Choose a photo. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone. Then go on to the next screen.
  5. Under "Enter the 6-digit code.", type the code Novaz shows for Feedly and select NEXT.
  6. Feedly shows ten backup codes. Save them before you close the window.

Feedly then emails you to confirm that 2FA is on.

Feedly's article only mentions scanning. It says nothing about a key you can type or how often the codes change, so scan rather than type: the QR code carries the code settings with it. If you do get a text key, see What is a 2FA setup key?

Keep the backup codes safe

The ten codes let you sign in when you can't reach your authenticator app (Feedly). Feedly's help doesn't say whether each code works once, whether you can view the list again, or how to get new ones.

If you haven't made a Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file), its keys exist only on your iPhone, and these codes are Feedly's only documented fallback. Store them in a password manager or on paper, away from your phone. More in 2FA backup codes.

When Feedly asks for a code

After setup, you need your password and the 6-digit code from your app every time you sign in (Feedly). The help doesn't mention trusted devices or a way to skip the code on a computer you use often.

Feedly Enterprise accounts that sign in through single sign-on (SSO) work differently. Feedly's SSO guide says the second step for those users is enforced by the company's identity provider, while Feedly's own 2FA covers accounts that sign in with credentials (Feedly). If you sign in through work, ask your IT team.

If Feedly rejects your code

Feedly's help doesn't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is the iPhone's clock: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. Other causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Moving to a new iPhone

Feedly doesn't document moving 2FA to another phone. If you use Novaz's iCloud backup or a backup file, restore your accounts on the new iPhone and Feedly's codes keep working. Without one, while you're signed in, turn 2FA off (see below) and set it up again with the new iPhone. Keep the new backup codes and discard the old ones. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

Sign in with one of your backup codes instead of the app code (Feedly). Then turn 2FA off and set it up again with your new phone.

Without backup codes, Feedly's help doesn't describe a 2FA recovery process, what proof it would ask for, or how long it takes. Its contact page points to Feedly's support page (feedly.com/i/support) or to pro@feedly.com (Feedly). Write from the email address on your Feedly login so the team knows which account you mean. See also Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

On the Logins page, select DISABLE TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION. Pick the login, type its Password, select NEXT, then confirm with DISABLE (Feedly). Feedly emails you a confirmation. Its steps ask for your password, not a code. Afterwards, open Feedly in Novaz and tap Remove account.
