Your LCN.com account is where you manage domains, hosting, billing and support tickets with this UK web host, through its Online Control Panel. Two-factor authentication (2FA) for that control panel is optional, and the only method LCN describes is a code from an authenticator app (LCN.com).

The detail to plan for: LCN shows your secret key during setup and then never again. Its help pages mention no backup codes, so that key is your own way back in if you lose your phone (LCN.com). This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone. Any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the LCN.com steps come from LCN's own support guides and their screenshots, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. We haven't tested them on an LCN account, so a label may differ slightly. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Before you start

You need to sign in as the main account holder (LCN.com), and you'll want a password manager or paper ready for the secret key.

This setting protects your LCN control panel only. If you have Microsoft 365 email through LCN, those mailboxes have their own multi-factor setting, managed in the Microsoft 365 admin area rather than in LCN's control panel (LCN.com).

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

These steps follow LCN's newer guide, from January 2024, and its screenshots (LCN.com, LCN.com):

  1. Sign in at login.lcn.com with your account reference number or email address and your password, then select Control Panel.
  2. Hover over the Account tab and choose Two-Factor Authentication from the menu.
  3. Select Setup authentication. LCN shows three numbered steps on one page.
  4. Under Get verification code, LCN shows a QR code and a Secret key. Copy the secret key now and store it somewhere safe. LCN says it "will not be visible to you once the process is complete."
  5. In Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at the QR code on your computer screen. If the page is open on the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  6. If you'd rather type it, tap +, then Enter key manually in Novaz, put "LCN" in Service, and type the secret key as the Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key?
  7. Type the current code from Novaz into the box under Enter verification code, then select Enable authentication.

LCN's older guide from 2020 reaches the same page through Account > Security Settings > Setup Authentication (LCN.com). Labels may differ, so check both menus.

Your secret key is the backup

LCN's help pages don't mention backup or recovery codes. What they do say is that the secret key lets you set up your authenticator again if you lose your device or uninstall the app, and LCN recommends keeping it in a secure password manager (LCN.com).

Unless you turn on Novaz's iCloud backup or export a backup file, Novaz keeps its keys only on your iPhone, so the saved LCN key may be your only other copy. Treat it like a password: anyone who has it can make your codes.

Location restrictions and 2FA

LCN limits control panel sign-ins to your account's country by default (LCN.com). When you turn on 2FA with those location restrictions active, LCN offers to switch them off, so you can sign in from any country or IP address with your code (LCN.com).

When LCN asks for a code

Once 2FA is on, LCN asks for a code from your app every time you sign in to the control panel (LCN.com). Its help doesn't mention a "remember this device" option.

If LCN rejects your code

LCN's guides don't cover rejected codes. The usual cause is a wrong clock on the phone: open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz warns you when the iPhone's clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones

LCN doesn't describe a phone change. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, restore it on the new iPhone and LCN comes with it. Otherwise, type your saved secret key into Novaz on the new iPhone with Enter key manually, and check that a code works before you wipe the old phone. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If you lose your authenticator

If you saved the secret key, add it to Novaz again on any iPhone and sign in as usual.

If you didn't, you'll need LCN's support team (LCN.com). Its newer guide gives the phone number 0345 363 3637, or a support request from the control panel if you can still get in (LCN.com). Phone and LiveChat are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, and tickets are also answered on weekends (LCN.com).

LCN doesn't describe its process for a lost authenticator. For phone and chat in general, it asks for your account reference and checks your memorable word plus details such as a line of your address or your date of birth (LCN.com). It doesn't say how long a reset takes. See also Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

LCN's guides don't describe turning 2FA off. The screenshot of the Two-Factor Authentication page shows an on/off switch in its top corner, labeled Disabled before setup, but LCN doesn't explain what it asks for when you use it (LCN.com). If you turn 2FA off, remove the old LCN entry in Novaz: open it and tap Remove account.
