Your Rocket Beans TV (RBTV) account is the one you sign in with on rocketbeans.tv, the German streaming channel's site, for things like your show subscriptions, playlists and the Rocket Beans Supporters Club (RBSC). Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional. The only method the RBTV team has described is an authenticator app, which gives you a one-time code during sign-in (Rocket Beans TV).

One thing to know up front: we found no Rocket Beans TV help article about 2FA. Everything below comes from the website team's changelog posts on the official RBTV forum. The site's FAQ page only loads with JavaScript, so we couldn't read it. This guide uses Authenticator App - Novaz on iPhone, but any authenticator app works the same way.

How we checked this guide: the Rocket Beans TV details come from changelog posts by the RBTV website team (staff) on the official Rocket Beans TV forum, linked below, which we read on October 21, 2026. The posts are in German and date from 2019 to 2022. We haven't tested them on a Rocket Beans TV account, so the screens may look different now. The Novaz steps are checked against the app, version 1.0.5.

Where the setting is

2FA arrived with version 1.7.0 of rocketbeans.tv in April 2019. The announcement says to set it up in your account settings, "In den Accounteinstellungen" (Rocket Beans TV), and links straight to rocketbeans.tv/accountsettings/2fa.

Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app

The changelog doesn't walk through the setup screens, so these steps stick to what it says and the usual flow for authenticator apps:

  1. Sign in at rocketbeans.tv and open your account settings (Accounteinstellungen), then the two-factor section. The direct address is rocketbeans.tv/accountsettings/2fa.
  2. If the page shows a QR code, open Novaz, tap +, then Scan QR code, and point the camera at it. On the same iPhone, take a screenshot and use Choose a photo instead. See scanning a QR code on the same iPhone.
  3. If the page shows a text key instead, tap +, then Enter key manually, and fill in Service (for example, Rocket Beans TV), Account if you like, and paste the key into Setup key. See What is a 2FA setup key? The changelog doesn't say whether RBTV shows a key or what it calls it.
  4. Type the 6-digit code from Novaz to confirm. RBTV's code field sends the code by itself after six digits (Rocket Beans TV).
  5. Save the recovery code RBTV gives you during setup (next section).

Your recovery code

The changelog speaks of one recovery code (Wiederherstellungscode) that comes with the setup. It was meant as a last resort for when you're signed out and can't get a code. Since version 1.9.6 (September 2019), you can also use it to turn 2FA off while you're still signed in (Rocket Beans TV).

The posts don't say whether you can get a new code later, or whether it still works after you've used it once. Guard it well: if the phone is gone and you have no Novaz backup (iCloud backup or a backup file), it's your only way back in. Keep the code in a password manager or on paper, away from your phone. More in 2FA backup codes.

Signing in

Once 2FA is on, RBTV asks for a code from your app each time you sign in with your account (Rocket Beans TV). The code field is selected for you, so you can start typing right away (Rocket Beans TV). The posts don't say whether 2FA also applies when you sign in through a connected service, such as Facebook, Reddit or Discord (Rocket Beans TV), and they don't mention trusted devices.

If Rocket Beans TV rejects your code

RBTV already gives you a little leeway: since version 1.8.19 (July 2019), a code that has just expired is still accepted (Rocket Beans TV). If codes keep failing anyway, your iPhone's clock is the likely cause. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. Novaz also warns you when the clock is 15 seconds or more off. More causes are in Authenticator code not working?

Changing phones or losing your phone

The RBTV posts don't describe moving 2FA to a new phone. The documented controls suggest this order: while you can still sign in, turn 2FA off with your recovery code, then set it up again with the new phone. If you have a Novaz iCloud backup or backup file, you can restore your accounts on the new iPhone instead. See How to transfer your authenticator app to a new iPhone.

If the phone is gone, the recovery code is the documented way back in. The posts don't name a support contact for a lost authenticator, what proof RBTV would ask for, or how long a reset would take. See Lost the phone with your authenticator app?

Turning 2FA off

You can turn 2FA off in the same account settings. The changelog only mentions doing it with the recovery code (Rocket Beans TV); it doesn't say whether a code from your app works too. After that, remove the entry in Novaz: open it and tap Remove account.
